Ive read the journals of both the two, and I definately found Dylan harder to comprehend than Eric. Honestly I can relate to the bullying and the depression, cause Ive been though both of them. Maybe not to the extreme. But its easier to relate to wanting to die and constant pain rather than wanting to Hurt other People. That being said, I think its easier to know where to place anti social behaviour. Cold, calculating and charming. Most of them dont kill People, but they can destroy People emotionally, bully People for the fun of it, etc. Without any guilt or conscience. They have very little empathy, and as far as I know its Now agreed that they are born that way. I think it suits EHs journal.

I do think that some people are predisposed to be depressed. I am not sure how to say it in words but I do think that some are just more likely to be depressed by things that others may not even think twice about. Like seeing the glass half empty all the time.
I think based on his personality type he was always seeing tiny things that others didnt see and was taking them as personal attacks on him. He was embarrassed to make any mistakes and was overly hard on himself. I think he also felt he had no one to confide in.
I don't think we can say with certainty why but I do think by the end EVERYTHING in his life was making him sad and he thought he had nothing to live for.

I don’t think Dylan’s depression came for any external forces. I think the feelings of isolation, feeling different, bullying, and not being able to find love exasperated what was going on inside him since he was 15. I believe he probably had a chemical inbalance. I don’t think he had situational depression I think he had clinical depression.
Which is why I am pretty steadfast in my feelings about the bullying. Some people might say, and they have said, the bullying wasn’t as bad as it was once reported. I was one of the people at the beginning who thought they were just tortured every day. I don’t feel like that anymore, however bullying will affect people in different ways. An incident might not be so bad to one person however the same incident may be detrimental to another. Some people can brush something off. Other people let it fester.
I imagind both Dylan and Eric had other things going on other than depression. However I am not a professional and I was never able to sit down with either of them. So I might be talking out of my ass...

I believe that he was diagnosed with clinical depression

He was diagnosed postmortem. I’m not sure if that’s extremely accurate though.

I also don't think he had situational depression or that his sadness was caused by outside forces. It's understandable and relatable.
Lack of communication is one thing, which brings another question to play, did he or Eric ever talk about their depression together?
I wouldn't be surprised. They both say on the Basement Tapes "we're going to die doing it" and "we need to die too", and I doubt they would've volunteered this so openly if they hadn't talked about their suicidal ideation before.
Now the real question is, how did they talk about wanting to die? Because it seems unlikely to me that either of them would've gotten all mushy about their feelings in front of each other.

Good question. Eric recorded himself crying about wanting to revisit old friends, I don't know about Dylan. I doubt two teenagers about to commit a mass shooting would speak in-depth about their thoughts on suicide, though.

I believe Dylan suffered from antisocial personality disorder, not just "depression".
