Aurora active shooter situation at Henry Pratt, multiple injuries

"Aurora police confirm there is an active shooter situation Friday afternoon in the business area near Highland and Archer.

Two sources tell CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards that they believe multiple officers and civilians have been wounded.

A worker at Alro Steel tells CBS 2’s Vince Gerasole that employees there have been told to stay in the building because of a shooting next door at Henry Pratt company.

West Aurora School District 129 has reported that they are holding students."


I passed by Aurora and this company many times. In fact, I am pretty sure my dad used to work here too.

Haven't seen much on my news feed other than mentions of "multiple injuries", wonder if this is a big event or if it'll turn out to be something more minor

Shooter has been apprehended.

According to eyewitnesses, the shooter was a employee or former employee and used a pistol with a laser sight

I am, but I can't really watch the coverage on TV since other people are using it.

Guess I'll join in here since this one is gaining more traction. Shooter was apprehended several minutes ago. CNN states 2 local hospitals are receiving multiple patients, but current number is unknown.

UPDATE: Suspect is in police custody, CNN reporting multiple causalities.

I'm so glad I don't have any family members that work at that place.

Correction from my earlier post, my grandpa's cousin worked at that building. He got out safe. Thank god.

I'm glad to hear that. I have family in the area too, though none of them work at this plant thankfully.

Local TV said that the shooter is dead. Still no updates on the injuries.

I'm seeing reports that he was arrested. Not sure which is true right now. So much is floating around. CNN stated the police will be holding a news conference soon, so we should get some information.

Edit: Seeing reports that at least 12 civilians were injured along with the 4 officers.

Edit 3: Seeing more and more reports the shooter is. Lets hope that is the only death.

It's very concerning how we still don't have an update on the wounded civilians as of yet.

Yes, I hope the injuries are not too severe. Do we even know how many (if any) civilians are critical? Police requested a lot of ambulance response to the scene.

Dunno. We haven't gotten an update on the wounded people. Last I heard, the officers were in stable condition.

Shooter confirmed as 45 year old, Gary Martin, a recently fire employee who had been with the company for 20 years.

Damn, I hope they are no more causalities. Police took out the shooter. It wasn't suicide.

I actually genuinely thought this took place in Aurora Colorado until I saw a news report saying that the town was in Illinois.

It's scary to think someone can just gun down their colleague. There are some people at my work that I utterly detest, but I would never hurt them or want to see them hurt.

Names of the victims have officially been released. One of victims was an intern on his first day at the job.

Correction: apparently the people he shot and killed was part of a committee, who had a meeting with him and fired him right before the shooting.

Still can't believe this shooting happened so close to where I'm living and that one of my family member's cousins was there when it happened. I mean, I knew something like this would happen eventually, but still.

I hope this detail comes out the next couple of days. It would be interesting to find out. He had been working there for 15 years.

Just saw surveillance video of the shooting. God damn. That guy was just waiting at the entrance for police to arrive.
