[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two people were killed and four injured Tuesday in a shooting Tuesday on a North Carolina university campus, prompting a lockdown and chaotic scene in North Carolina’s largest city.
UNC Charlotte issued a campus lockdown late Tuesday afternoon, saying shots had been fired.
“Shots reported near kennedy. Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately,” the university said in an alert, referring to the school’s Kennedy building on campus.
Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency said on Twitter that two people were found dead at the scene, two others have life-threatening injuries and two others have injuries that are not life-threatening. They said the numbers could change.
Aerial shots from local television news outlets showed police officers running toward a building, while another view showed students running on a campus sidewalk.
The university later reported that law enforcement officers were sweeping campus buildings.
It was not immediately clear whether the victims were students or whether a suspect was in custody. School officials couldn’t be reached for immediate comment Tuesday evening.
The campus was to host a concert at the school’s football stadium.

Terrell and his father moved to Charlotte from the Dallas area about two years ago after his mother died, Terrell's grandfather, Paul Rold of Arlington, Texas, said.
Terrell taught himself French and Portuguese with the help of a language learning program his grandfather bought him and was attending UNC-Charlotte, according to Rold.
Terrell is on the autism spectrum but "clever as can be," and he never showed any interest in guns or other weapons, Rold said, The Associated Press reported.
UNC-Charlotte spokeswoman Buffy Stephens said Terrell had been enrolled at UNC-Charlotte but withdrew during the current semester.
The campus police chief said Terrell had not appeared on their radar as a potential threat.

The media is saying Riley was killed when he tried to stop the shooter.

911 calls from the shooting:
According to the first 911 call apparently he was using a glock 17 or 34 (both full-size 9mm handguns although the 34 has a longer barrel since it's mainly a competition or target shooting gun)
