What is shocking in 2019?

This may be a morbid question and apologies to anyone who has lost family/friends in a mass shooting. But what would shock you right now? Whenever there is a shooting I find myself just skipping by the article ohhhh just another shooting in America nothing important sorry but that's how I think. Is it kill count? Is it character of the killer? I really don't know but I know my feelings at home watching Columbine news and I know my feelings now even Las Vegas way more casualties but I still didn't care much

Another disaster or attack with the same impact as 9/11, or a calculated multiple mass shooting/assassination/bombing that is perpetrated by people who legitimately want to watch the world dive into madness for no good reason (Gang of extremist misanthropes). Maybe World War 3 too.

The thought of an extremely horrific attack with no apparent motive has never been done before unless you count Sandy Hook.

I'm not a sociologist, but we live in a time where every matter of suffering instantly becomes a meme. The debate is always open. Is this a way to cope with some harsh realities? Or is it plain insensitivity mixed with indifference? I think there's a different answer depending on who's expressing themselves this way

Yes it's almost becoming like a troll of some sorts sadly. If a shooter on a certain side of the political spectrum kill then one side will use him or her as a meme and the other side will use it as a counterpoint. Columbine has such a major impact I think mostly cause people weren't thinking of political posturing they were thinking of lives lost and the impact of young kids dying by the hand of another classmate that's all it was, at least that's how I remember it, until the Marilyn Manson, video games etc. came into the equation.

T think a mass shooting done by a police force or ex police officers or FBI/CIA/DHS or ex FBI/CIA/DHS might do it. Those who are heavily armed, trained, and sworn to protect but instead do a actual false flag and get caught or a mass shooting just because would shock a whole lot worse than the Vatican sex scandal, and 9/11 especially if it's a hundred going around doing the shooting. America would plunge into civil war immediately. Or maybe a massive police sex scandal akin to a metoo or Vatican sex scandal might shock enough. The way the police are going i'm expecting it. Maybe a teacher abuse scandal involving sex with underage students and beat downs of students especially with disabilities certainly would be shocking if it was as bad as metoo and the Vatican sex abuse scandal.

There could also be the idea of a nuke hitting us.

I have read somewhere that Adam Lanza was a member on an older, now closed version of this site, but I do think another forum member will commit a shooting and get 12+ kills.
