What are your thoughts and feelings on Columbine? Ill start:
It makes me really emotional and I don't know why. I did a project in school for a event that happened in history and i eventually chose to do Columbine. As i did more research, it was really intriguing to me to learn more (which led me here)

I love being entrapped in the endless Columbine spiral of a rabbit hole that leads you towards questions that cannot be answered at the moment.

It happened so long ago and we still don't have all the answers.

And we probably never will. Definitely makes you wonder what's still out there that hasn't been lost forever.

They literally dragged Rachel across the grass like a rag doll and left her their, left Daniel R laying on the sidewalk for 2 whole days, waited hours outside doing nothing while people were being murdered, and didn't even let families know their child was killed.

They also ignored the Brown family's complaint.

We lost any actual firsthand insight when Eric and Dylan committed suicide so there's always going to be questions regarding the case.

The police also ignored a huge chunk of evidence that had signs of Eric becoming a future mass murder. Eric had websites full of death lists and made instructions on how to create bombs. Not only was the police incompetent, but the school was too. The school didn't take any action when Devin Adams was telling the Assistant Principal that she was being threatened by Eric.

They waited hours to storm the building. They were a bunch of armed police officers with solid firearms training who let two teenage kids with virtually no know-how re: guns rampage the school.
It doesn't even matter if there was a third shooter. There were dozens of trained officers.

Well, we still don't know the content of her report. She reported Nate Dykeman for threats as well, and he didn't kill anybody. Eric, Dylan and Zack were punished, and Zach is the one who threatened to kill another student. Now he's alive and hopefully living good life. You'll never know with situationike that who is serious. Zack literally wrote he's going to kill another student - but of course, he didnt do it.

Homicidal ideation is far more common than the act itself. I think regular people have thought about murdering someone at least once in their life.
As we know, Eric and Dylan were far from normal.

The most fascinating thing about Columbine is how so many institutions just FUCKED UP so many times before, during and after the shooting. Police fucked up when they ignored Browns, with their horrible reaction to shooting, the way they kept in secret important information and later destroyed evidences, and their attempt to frame innocent student (Brooks Brown) and hide his family's reports about Eric and Dylan. Dumb, incompetent and diabolical. Education system fucked up with toxic atmosphere and bullying. Mental health specialist fucked up with Eric. He admitted his problems, his homicidal thoughts, and it was basically ignored. His psychologist was a hack, judging by his online feedback. Families of shooters fucked up with their kids. Politics with their exhausting issue of gun control. I guess that's when it really started. Media FUCKED UP in horrific ways, from posting pictures of dead Daniel (that's how his father find out) to harassing kids who ran away from the library with interviews to circus of talk shows to posting leaked pictures of dead shooters to sucking everything there was to suck from this story and creating The Columbine Effect. Columbine became ground zero for dozens of shooters thanks to this shameless, insane media coverage. Church with multiple fake stories of pretty girls dying for their faith and bullying of girl who was asked about faith and didnt die.
It's almost incredible how much societal uglyness those two exposed.

I totally agree, that's why I don't think there were something wrong with their reaction to Devon's report.

And we have to consider just how much was on their plate at the time. These were highschool kids - not grown criminals with sordid pasts that needed to be watched.
What I believe sticks out more is their mistakes on the day of the shooting.

Welp... my feeling is were very unnecessary. Sad for parents. Shocking for America (they made history about school shootings, there was a before and an after in that theme) and E & D were gonna graduate few weeks, they had a new life waiting for both and forget high school forever, they chose wrath way. Sad if you look it in that way

It is really interesting to study the minds of Eric and Dylan, and the shooting; but it should've never happened. It's sad that all of the parties involved were hurt in awful ways and that 13 lives were cut short by two boys who hated the world. I tend to wonder what the victims and E & D would be like if Columbine never happened.

Sometimes I wish that Eric and Dylan, including some other murderers who took the same paths they did, are simply plain black and white, pure evil beings who just decided to kill others so I don't have to feel for and/or understand them.

I feel like it's too fucking over rated for me to actually enjoy learning about the case because everyone talks about it nonstop when it comes to school shootings or mass shootings in general while I have no interest in it whatsoever.

Tom Mauser, Randy and Judy Brown, Dave Sanders kids, Dawn Townsend, Michael Shoels, Beth Nimmo, Darrell Scott, Sue Petrone, Doreen Tomlin, Misty Bernall and Patti Nelson seem like interesting, intelligent complex people.
(Sue K, Brian Rohrbaugh, and Frank DeAngelis really rub me the wrong way though)

I have mixed Feelings.
I guess that so many places in the world doesnt take mental illness seriously. And that school shootings kind of illustrates this to some degree.
That whenever the conversation about bullying related to school shootings comes up it seems either overrated or underrated. We dont know wether bullying was a part of the Columbine - shooting, but apparantly this is true in regards to other school shootings. I believe that its part of it, but the extent to which, IDK.
That mass murders are glorified too much.
That some countries have too much access to firearms, which does seem to be a factor.
