Frank Ochbergs article+ audio interview with Reid Meloy

I thought I might contribute with these.

It doesnt sit well with me that Frank Ochberg denies that Eric and Dylan were bullied, given some of the sources put out there . Ive been trying to get a hold of more information from this professor. Note: He participated in investigating the shooting, so he obviously knows what hes talking about.

Yet, given that I find few interviews of him, IDK what to think about this. I wish I could know a bit more about why he thinks that they werent bullied.

Of course, I mean getting harassed at school everyday on a daily basis possibly couldn't have contributed to it.

IDK. Hes arguing far more, than, say, Langman, that bullying is a huge part of school shootings. Hes just saying that Eric and Dylan were not bullied. A recent study done in 2017 suggested that most school shooters left behind evidence of being badly bullied, coupled with other social issues. Yet, not all school shooters are bullied. So, I guess its still possible for Eric and Dylan to have done this even if they werent bullied. Frank Ochberg is a psychiatrist that worked with the case, during the investigation. I assume that he has a great deal of insight into the case. He also participated in an NPR episode after the Virginia tech episode alongside Reid Meloy. I like to get experts opinions. Just, what I find puzzling is that I couldn’t find any other reference where he talks about the Columbine shootings.

People tend to forget that sometimes mass shooters will act out out of their own egotistical notion or sense of entitlement. They feel that they are not given the status that they deserve. Yet, what he does say here is that some school shooters might fantasize about revenge if they are being bullied.
