I am surprised that Sandy Hook and Virginia Tech aren't on the list.

@MJ2beat: which one do you mean? The cologne shooting or the other one?

@Jenn: I don´t understand why they didn´t name Sandy Hook, but Virgina Tech isn´t a school. So they didn´t name it.

Today, five years ago there was another school shooting in Germany. Tim Kretschmer killed 15 people and after that he killed himself. That was the point where my research and my interest in Coumbine began.

I mean all of them, including the Tim Kretschmer case thats wasnt in the list and you mentioned.

I think that Sandy Hook wasnt mention because it was in the beginning of the articule. Seem that it was make for the anniversary of this shooting.

But they did note the Polytechnique shooting, which also took part at a university.

So far I know, the city is going to file suits against the father of Tim, while Tims father want to take action against Tims former Psychologists.

Thanks, I like the pictures. The weather looks cloudy so it made the pictures more interesting. I think that the fact this massacre occurred with a flamethrower as the weapon, make the whole thing very creepy and horrific and definitely this case like one of the worst school massacres . For some reason I think that in Germany happened the most interesting cases about this topic and I would like to read more about them.

The bad thing is, that German police is very restrictive about information in these cases. I also noticed that German media as well as psychologists are kind of paranoid about not giving the shooter any "fame", because they seem to think that this is the main motive for many school shooters.
So, it is sometimes hard to get a clear and detailed picture about the life of the perpetrators. In the Winnenden case, they at least released some information about his therapy sessions, I really did not expect that.

I know and is a pity because all the cases are really intriguing. I just watched a few documentaries about them in german that a friend from there shared to me but I didnt understand a thing. Another reason why I want to learn german so bad...

Virginia Tech is a school. In America, universities are still considered schools.

Well there are several reasons why I find them like the most interesting:

1 - The first or one of the first school massacres took place there at Bremen in 1913 and no many people know it
2 - The circumstances and how they happened, in most of the massacres are not very regular like for example in the Cologne massacre where the murder weapon was a home-made flamethrower or in the Erfut school shooting where the principal target of the killer were teachers and not only students like in most of the famous school shootings and not in all the cases the perpetrators were only young people and students, there are teachers and people from outside
3 - There is not a lot of info about these cases and the perpetrators, something that make them more intriguing
4 - Some of the massacres took place before was normally to see often in the news stuff about school massacres and even before these special cases have that name while in the United States most of the massacres occurred in the last years and there the nfo about them is more accessible and the killers have fans like what happen with Eric and Dylan while in Germany it doesn't happen, info about them is not so accessible and the interested person will be always intrigue and wanting to know more.

1- So far I know, that was the first school shooting ever, yes.
2- I also agree. The Erfurt case was very unusual, because Robert only did target teachers. Although there were two students who died during the attack, but this did happen because Robert shot through a locked door, so he probably killed them without even knowing it.
There even was some incident, where Robert shot and killed a teacher, while students did stand just besides Robert. The students first fled but later came across Robert again and one of the students then asked Robert "It is normal, than I am deaf now?" and she said that as a response, Robert nodded and tapped her shoulder friendly. I find this drastic change in his behaviour very bizzarre, it really was like he was in a war where he made clear differences between enemies and civilians.

Yes I find it very bizarre too and it adds something else in my point about the circumstances, including the one that he possibly target teachers because he was expelled of the school and was frustrated with his future, thinking that they were responsable of his problem

By the way, the Bad Reichenhall Shooting could also interest you. I think, its highly unique in several circumstances. 1. it was a non-school Mass Shooting, but was inspired by Columbine. 2. I think it was the first Columbine-Copycat Shooting in Europe 3. It was the first Mass Shooting in Germany, that was carried out by an Adolescent.

This part: Neighbors said that Peyerl was a normal albeit
introverted boy, but a psychiatrist who was involved
in this case spoke of a loser type. Descriptions of
Martin by former classmates were strikingly similar
to descriptions given by classmates of Eric Harris and
Dylan Klebold. He is said to have been a shy loner who
preferred playing video games over talking to people.
One classmate, Stefanie Hocheder, said "Martin was
always nice", but that he was largely ignored and
rarely had anything to say. Another said Martin was
"a bit of a right-wing".

This comprueb what I say about the bullying thing that can't be exactly bullying but it is in the end and that is relevant for many people and cases. Its clear that Martin wasnt bullied so hard but he was ignored like one of his classmates said and with his family troubles, both situations could affected him to the point to followed Hitler. Eric and Dylan had the same problem and its really interesting the similarities between both cases, even though this one wasnt in at school, but after all is the first case that can be inspired on Columbine, just months before that one. Thanks for share it with me, I haven't listen to about that case till now.

However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light
