There was a conversation about whether the trauma he went through triggered this behavior, or if he also went through something similar when he was younger, or does trauma just make what is already inside of you worse?
I think one of the survivors talks about that on Confronting Columbine...

Trauma can fuck you up and make you do all sorts of shit, but typically the only kind of trauma that might lead to someone molesting a child is someone being molested themselves. Sexual trauma in childhood is a big risk factor for someone going on to abuse children themselves. Unless he's had some other childhood issue that nobody knows about, I'd say Columbine had very little contribution to him turning into a pedo.
And you choose the things you do, regardless of how traumatised you are. I have PTSD and have never inflicted my trauma upon someone else. Treating others with care is a choice you make every day.
