Adam mentioned in the John Zerzan call that chimpanzees are supposed to weigh in the lower hundreds. Given that he mentioned that he wished he was born a chimp, I feel like his anorexia, his vegan diet, and this factoid are all connected.

Yes, I would agree with this statement. I think another reason is that he was very obsessive about things, for example switching socks and washing his hands excessively. For him, anorexia was just another obsession.

The vegan diet certainly did him no favors. In the radio call he mentions that Travis’s diet left him overweight for a chimp, so perhaps Lanza felt self conscious about eating food like everyone else.

Yeah, or maybe he felt that his weight was what humans were "supposed to" weigh.

I think they found links to pro-anorexia sites on his bookmarks. "Pro-Ana" and "Thinspo" communities were pretty common back then, especially on places like Tumblr. And I'm gonna be honest, veganism is a really shit diet that did Lanza no favors. It's literally just malnutrition. There are about 15 important nutrients that you can only get from animal products. It's just starving yourself for a moral/ethical position which is why vegans tend to be mentally ill and gaunt-looking, like Lanza. You can get away with vegetarianism if you're eating eggs or dairy. I believe it was also said in a report that Lanza had measurable brain damage from malnutrition.

i remember losing an insane amount of weight when i went vegan (ive since gone back to being vegetarian) so i have no doubt adams veganism contributed to his low weight. his struggles with anorexia obviously did not help. chronic malnutrition from such a bad diet will ruin your brain

I have autism too and I will usually eat one big meal during the day and that’s it.

I eat 4 meals a day, but again I exercise 2 hours a day
