So, many people think that Eric killed himself seconds, possibly minutes before Dylan did, judging by the positioning of their bodies. However, in an interview with Patti Nielson, she was hiding in a closet in the library, and overheard Eric and Dylan shout "One, two, three!" in unison, followed by gunshots. Which story is true? Discuss.

Patti Nielson was quoted as saying the following statement in a Newspaper
Rocky Mountain News - August 22nd 1999:
"Art teacher Patti Nielson, hiding in a cabinet, heard voices in unison count, one! two! three! then she heard a loud boom."

However in the official documents she says she did not hear or say this:

Official Documents page(98-99)
Investigating Officers were requested to recontact Patti  regarding the above statement.
Patti’s original interview was conducted on 05/25/99 and at no point did she provide the information that was documented in the Rocky Mountain News article. Nor did she offer any specific information regarding where Eric and Dylan were fatally shot. It was decided that Patti would be recontacted to clarify.

On 08/24/99 Patti was contacted via telephone. Patti was aware that she had been quoted in the Rocky Mountain News article on August 22nd. When asked if this was an accurate account of what occurred on 4/20 she responded in the negative.
Patti reported that at no time had she spoken with the writers of the article, and to her knowledge she had never been interviewed by a Rocky Mountain News writer.
Patti had given an interview to the Denver Post but denied making the statement that was posted in the Rocky Mountain News.

Patti was not aware of the source of the quote, but speculated it could have come from someone she had spoken to, who then relayed this information to the Rocky Mountain News.
She said over the course of time she has had numerous conversations with friends, students and associates where she speculated on how Eric and Dylan died.
Patti said she could have envisioned a scenario where they did a countdown then shot themselves simultaneously.
She clarified this was not something she observed but was purely speculation.

Patti said she had made no observations concerning the point where Eric and Dylan died, but she did have a “feeling.” Patti said she felt that they had shot themselves “simultaneously” but this was simply “speculation.”

Patti stated that approximately one half hour to 45 minutes prior to being evacuated by SWAT she did recall hearing “boom” noises which she believed came from the southwest corner of the library.
It is noted that in her previous interview on 05/25/99 Patti did not disclose hearing this “boom” noise coming from the southwest corner of the library.
Patti said that she was evacuated from the library between 15:00 and 15:15 on 4/20.
