Well, I think I missed that teh first time I was lookign at the library events. But noticed it recently, Amanda Duran-Stair mentions it in her testimony here (5:23 into the vid):
That's a commrcial fuse, like one SILKRAT used in the movie. I was there when the fuse scenes were shot and I vividly remember how badly and strongly burning fuse like this smells. We even had the characters mention how strong the smell is.
How does it smell? It smells of sulphur.
My point:Dylan and Eric were using this or similar type of fuse with their pipebombs and/or Co2. That probably caused this smell, not the gunpowder.
Maybe not a great discovery, but I thougth tis worthwhile to note on teh forums.

Thread necromancy. Can anyone confirm what fuse E&D used? Is it in the 11k?

I have read Eric had alot of fuse hanging on the wall in his room, I don't think the kind was specified.
Here's the search warrant, maybe there's some information about it there.

This is how it's described in the basement tapes transcripts
"On the east wall, adjacent to the bedroom door, the teens point out a coil of green wire that they call a “50 foot cannon fuse.” "

Thanks. Yeah green wire - its probably the same type I posted in the image above and the same type we used for the "Bullet Time" movie.
If it is, then I can vouch that this fuse type creates an inordinate amount of sour sulphuric-like stench. Even a very short lenght of fuse is enough to fill a decent size room with the smell.
