Could this be a coincidence? (Class of 1999 photo)

In the class of 1999 photo, three guys are making hand signs, and when their fingers are counted, it's 420. Is this a reference to a slang term? Was it used back then? Nevertheless, it's very interesting.

420 is slang used by potheads so that's my guess for what this was supposed to mean. Several people mentioned the significance of the date 4/20 as being related to drug use when the cops were interviewing them so it was definitely something that the kids at Columbine were familiar with.

Now this makes me want to go over the class pictures very closely to see if anything else can be found like that.

Considering this was taken in March and up until the last week before 4/20/1999, Dylan and Eric weren't sure if they were doing the bombing before or after the prom and then the date got pushed back again from the 19th to the 20th at the last minute, I'm sure this has nothing to do with Columbine. It's a reference to smoking weed.

LOL, all the viewer comments on the cafeteria footage video on Youtube are 4/20 jokes (and godawful Sandy Hook conspiracy theories)

I do not think that the massacre was a hoax, BUT this does give conspiracy theorists proof that perhaps Eric & Dylan's plans were known... I highly doubt it though. Most likely, this is a coincidence. Those kids were probably just a trio of stoners. Nothing wrong with being a stoner, though.

I really don't understand this mentality. If the Illuminati (or whoever) was planning something big, why foreshadow it in little ways like this? It seems counter-productive.

It is Colorado, doesn't it have a big connection to pot over there, more so than other states? I remember a video of people joking about how Colorado is like that.

They were one of the first states to legalize pot. I do not play into any conspiracy theories about Columbine.

The shooting was in 1999, (as we all know) but pot was not legalized in Colorado until sometime in the 2010's, over 15 years later. This does give plenty of evidence to prove that maybe the plans were known. The bottom line is most likely a group of stoners just did that pose. The shooting was no doubt a real life thing, not a hoax. But if anyone comes to me with damning evidence that this was planned/staged, I'm listening.

This is completely off the intended topic, but every time I see these pictures I get slightly irritated the guy held up two fingers on each hand INSTEAD of four fingers on one hand.

He could've just been trying to do 2 peace signs.

It really is hard to tell. Hell he could have been giving "Bunny" ears to his two imaginary friends for all we know!

Not that hard to get pot when it's illegal.

The author cleared up the matter when it was discussed on Reddit. She called the school Columbine because at the time her daughter was attending a school named Olde Columbine.
