Eric's future Empty
PostSubject: Eric's future   Eric's future Icon_minitimeSat Sep 09, 2017 1:51 pm

As we all know, the only step Eric took regarding his future was his application into the Marines, which was rejected due to his Luvox perscription.
He had no interest in going, but used it as a cover to get his family off his back, he even told some his friends that he didn't believe he would be going into the armed forces.
But then again he told Mark Manes the night before the massacre that the Marine Corps was: "the last option he has". I don't even think he knew he was rejected.
However if they didn't do NBK, he would have likely been called back and offered a position in the Marines following 9/11.

Do you think he would have left his current job then to join the Marines, or not?

He would have probably went on a 3 year computer major, as he stated in the AOL conversation. His father would of course love to hear about him joining the marines, but I think he wouldn't like the Marine boot camp very much.

No, I don't think he would have gone into the Marines 2-3 years after the fact because he would have already been in school for something else or had a job doing something else.

I can't imagine Eric being able to take orders from anyone in boot camp. He was too full of himself.

I also think he would have just kept his current job. I don't think he was ever cut out for the Marines.

I think the image of the marines reminded Eric of his favorite game. He was well aware that his physical training leaves much to be desired. It was another mockery.

I just cant see Eric making it through the Marines training, or any type of military training for that matter. He hated authority in general. His explosive temper would have been something that I highly doubt he would have been able to control when faced with someone berating him, talking down to him in the manner most Drill instructors use.

I am a pretty laid back girl myself, yet even I would have a problem with someone being in my face screaming. Especially if while my personal space was being invaded, saliva flew from their mouth and landed on me. I have a thing with spitting. I would rather have someone punch me then spit on me.

Now just try to picture Eric standing there. He would have eventually snapped. If by some miracle he was able to control his volatile temper, then he would have likely failed the physical aspect of any military training.

Eric was a ticking time bomb with a lot of hate towards the world and the people in it. Even if he never went through with the shooting. He would have snapped sooner or later. There was never going to be a happy ending for him.

I disagree. There was hope for both boys.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I have to agree with you. I truly feel if Eric and Dylan had been caught in enough time to receive the help they so desperately needed, they could have went on and had semi normal lives.

In my opinion if Eric had been given enough time, the right medication, the right environment, and someone to help him learn to process his anger and other issues. He possibly would have had the better chance at a normal life.

Dylan would have required more intensive treatment. Possibly even confinement to a treatment center where they worked daily on his depression, and a combination of med's. He likely would have required almost around the clock care. Yet I still think that he would have improved in time.
