At least 18 people killed in Crimea mass shooting/bombing

Wikipedia is now saying 12 of the 53 injured are in critical condition.

Yeah, it is so weird.

This suicide pic makes me feel exactly the same as Eric and Dylan's: you know what they have been through just before their suicide is awful, what they have done is awful, it is beyond words, their last hours, minutes are extremely violent. And yet when I see them dead, I can't help but see innocent kids sleeping peacefully.

On his suicide pic I see a kid, resting from life.

Is there any info on how he got the gun? My guess is that he obtained it illegally since Pistol Grip Shotguns are banned in Russia.

The news outlets I've heard have said he bought the shotgun legally so I'm assuming that the shotgun was sawn off manually.

Considering everything else about this that is Columbine-ish, I expected it to be a short form of Natural Selection.

He even committed suicide like Eric.

His body is in almost the same position in front of a book case.

I'm not counting on it; Russia's gun laws are strict as is and unless we get twenty more high death toll shootings after this one I'm not seeing it.

His classmate told in interview that shooter mentioned couple of times in conversation before that its would be nice to take a gun and kill all these these dumbasses in college and kill himself.

This sounds a lot like some of those pre-Columbine shooters like Kip Kinkel. 

Any word yet on police response times? It's something that's been nagging at me the minute I heard such a high number of people died.

What annoys me is that he seems to be a generic angry guy without a real cause.

I just read in a BBC article that he purchased the gun legally and the shooting went on for 15 minutes.

Yes, blood for the blood gods. Would these shootings happen without Columbine? Good question, I suppose if Columbine had never happened, there might have been some other iconic rampage that people would be inspired by and try to emulate. Then again, maybe not. It's a bit like asking whether WW2 would have happened without Hitler, I guess we'll never know.

He does seem to be a generic angry guy, but aren't most of them? His rampage would have been generic too if it wasn't such a close copy of the original (only better). If nothing else, at least he can claim the title of King of the Copycats.

The question of whether this guy would have killed if not for Eric and Dylan reminds me of something that was said after musicians allegedly encouraged the audience to riot at Woodstock '99: (Paraphrased from memory) "If some dumb fuck is willing to burn everything down because some musician tells him to then he's a dumb enough fuck to have done it anyway".

I don't think that mass shootings necessarily give anyone the idea to commit a mass shooting of their own, but I do think that it gives them more inspiration to go ahead with the plans they already had of doing so.

I keep seeing this CCTV image of the shooter pop up on different sites, but I can't tell if this is from minutes before the attack, or at a different place that had surveillance cameras. It obviously wasn't taken during the attack, since he is wearing a hoodie in this one.

Is it known what kind of bomb was detonated in the schools cafeteria?

I do the same the information on this forum is way more accurate plus I can´t get suicide photos from news articles.

Authorities on the Crimean peninsula were searching for a possible accomplice of the student who carried out a shooting and bomb attack on a vocational school, killing 20 people and wounding more than 50 others, an official said Thursday.

An 18-year-old student, who later killed himself, was initially believed to be the only one involved in the carnage at the Kerch Polytechnic College on Wednesday. Authorities haven't provided a motive for the shooting, and teachers and classmates described the attacker as a shy man who had few friends.

But Kremlin-appointed Crimean chief Sergei Aksyonov told Russian news agencies on Thursday that it is possible that the attacker, identified as Vyacheslav Roslyakov, had an accomplice.

"The point is to find out who was coaching him for this crime," he said. "He was acting on his own here, we know that. But this scoundrel could not have prepared this attack on his own, in my opinion and according to my colleagues."

Residents of the Black Sea city of Kerch brought flowers and toys to a makeshift memorial outside the school Thursday morning. Many were in tears and struggled to speak.

Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine in 2014. Wednesday's attack was by far the worst by a student in Russia, raising questions about school security in the country. The Kerch Polytechnic College had only a front desk with no security guards. Russia's National Guard said Thursday that it has deployed officers and riot police to all schools and colleges in Kerch in the aftermath of the attack.

The death toll from the shooting climbed by one to 20 on Thursday after one of the wounded died in a hospital, and the first victim will be buried later in the day.

Dozens remain hospitalized in Kerch, and at least 10 people with severe injuries will be airlifted to top Russian hospitals for surgery, Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova said.
