Dylan and prom

I revisited Sue's book again while working on something and she had a line about prom she said "Devon said at prom, he planted a kiss on her head after they danced. Was that the behavior of someone who wanted to die?"

I always thought it was a kiss goodbye and that yes, I believe someone who wanted to die would do something like that to a close friend. I wonder why she was thinking someone couldn't do that if they were not depressed... I mean he even made plans for after the 20th with various friends. Which was part of his plan and also something suicidal people do, even Sue mentions that in her book.

I always found it interesting he did that to Devon and not to Robyn, sure he held her hand but there was always a closer feeling people picked up on with Devon and Dylan. I wonder sometimes if he wrote about her in his journal?

I have always wondered if Dylan did care about Devon except for Zach. And that would be his final chance to really "do" anything with her. So yea I can see a man planning to die to do that as well. I also do not really know what other kind of context she could have seen in it. Esp since she was still dating Zach at the time.
