Other than the KyoAni arson, I've never researched any interesting arson attacks. Do you have any?

Have you heard of the man who staged an arson attack on his own home to frame an ex - only to have several of his children die because of the fire? 3 people were involved in this plot.
Quote :
Mick Philpott, 56, his wife Mairead, 31, and a friend involved in the plot, Paul Mosley, 46, were all convicted of manslaughter after setting ablaze their Derby home, meaning to blame the inferno on Philpott's former lover, who left him.
Instead, the fierce heat and smoke engulfed the home, leading to the deaths of six children aged five to 13 years, including five of Philpott's 17 children and a son of Mairead from a previous relationship.
The jury was not told Philpott had a previous conviction in 1978 for attempting to murder a woman who wanted to leave him, whom he stabbed a dozen times.
Such was Philpott's hold on women that after the fire that killed his children he got his wife to perform a sex act on the third co-conspirator, Mosley, which the crown said was carried out to keep him on side as part of the plot. Philpott had children with five partners, claiming welfare benefits for himself and forcing women in his life to hand over money to him.
He also exploited public sympathy after the fire to try to benefit from money donated for the funerals of the children, Jayden, five, Jade, 10, John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, and 13-year-old Duwayne.
Cases like this remind me of why the death penalty should exist.

Would you count Walter Seifert? By definition he is an arsonist but it does feel different to me somehow. Alot more dramatic i guess then Zhang Yunliang or Kim Dae-han or one of the other 1 billion Asian guys who dumped gasoline canisters onto public transport. He turned a garden pesticide sprayer into a flamethrower and filled it with a mix of motor oil and paint thinner that could burst out a six-meter flame. Aswell as a spear he made from a broom handle. He fascinates me in the same way Hamilton does, the persecution complex and main character syndrome. They also both targeted kids. The majority of Sefierts victims where 9-12, and reading about how they died has always kind of appalled me. Maybe I'm still a moralfag deep down who knows.
"The students had burns over 90% of their bodies. Eight students died from their injuries. Gertrud, 62, died just after 1:00 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Anna was in critical status for week and wasn't until October that she was able to leave the hospital. The 28 students who were wounded underwent months of long and painful treatment, which could not heal the scars completely, both physical and psychological."

I'm not really interested in the case but I remember reading about a 14 year old boy who slit the throats of his family and then committed suicide by slitting his own throat before setting their house on fire.
The boy was an obsessive arsonist, he had been expelled from his school for setting fires in the bathrooms and on the day of the massacre he argued with his mother for having set fire some objects, a particularly cruel way of murder for a 14-year-old boy.
And about arson Attacks, o think the janauba Massacre It's interesting, although there really is almost no information

I guess he could be an arsonist mass-killer if you were to stretch it to anyone who uses fire as a weapon, but he's not really what I was thinking of.
I have heard of him, though. I've never studied him or his attack, but I've seen passing mentions of him when there are questions of the cruelest mass killers—and he definitely is up there.

Well an arsonist in the more traditional sense I've been interested in is Bai Ningyang. This isn't to say he is interesting though as it's a Chinese case so we know jack shit about him as the government of China is always tight lipped after attacks. I find him fascinating because of his young age and the strange details like him sparing a child and telling them to run away because he knew the kids parents. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] "Armed with two knifes and petrol 19-year-old Bai Ningyang entered a classroom on the second floor of a kindergarten in Shiguan, a village near Gongyi. He forced the 21 children and the teacher to the back of the room, sprayed the floor with gasoline, and, before setting it on fire, let one child go because he knew their parents. Bai then locked the door and escaped. 12 of the children died and four others and the teacher were wounded. Bai was arrested the next day and sentenced to death in December 2007." The Osaka building fire is interesting as it is the only copycat arson attack I know of. I also read a little bit about the Daegu arson attack because the casualty count is just so incredibly high.
