Update: The attacker is a 33yo male. According to TOKFM and "Gazeta Wyborcza", he intentionally drove into the crowd and then crashed on cars parked nearby.

Or other disorder with psychotic episodes. IF true that is, because perhaps he's just had no better ideas for defense other than going for an insanity plea.

Also can't rule out drugs entirely. They tested him for drugs and didn't find anything... but perhaps it was simply something they didn't test for. Wouldn't be the first time.
