Daruvar nursing home shooting

6 people were killed and another 6 injured after the shooting at nursing home in Daruvar, Croatia.

The deceased victims included an employee and 5 residents of the nursing home, one of whom was the perpetrator's mother. The shooting has erupted at 10:13 a.m. local time (4:13 a.m EST) when the perpetrator opened fire with a pistol inside the facility. The suspect then fled the scene, but was later arrested by police in a nearby cafe.

The gunman was identified as 51yo Krešimir Pahoki, a retired military policemen who previously served in the army and took part in the Croatian War in 1990s. He reportedly suffered from PTSD and was addicted to alcohol. His motives remains unclear, but it is suspected that his actions were the result of his post-war trauma and other psychological problems; he had previously been arrested several times for domestic violence against his mother and other relatives.

i read on the bbc article there were only 20 people living at the nursing home at the time of the shooting, which is a super small community to be targeted. if six were killed and one was an employee, that's 5 residents dead out of 20... 25% of the old folks living there were killed. knowing how small of a place it was really helps paint a horrific picture.
