I don't think he was beyond help altogether. Beyond his own help and that of his parents? Yes.

I think Dylan needed very intense therapy, possibly even in a center of some type.

I agree 10000%. Sue has said that if love were enough, suicide would hardly happen. But that's not what it's about, and it takes much more to help someone who is in that state of mind.
