Columbine High School Massacre Discussion Forum

Steven Kazmierczak's shooting at Northern Illinois University was only about six minutes long.
Robert Hawkins shooting was also around six minutes long.
There might be others but the shortest school shooting that I know of with a significant number of casualties was Patrick Purdy's shooting outside of an elementary school in Stockton, California in 1989. It lasted less than five minutes (although I saw one source quote that it was only one minute long and another saying four minutes) with over 30 injured and six people killed, including the shooter.

Edit: I would also mention that Thomas Hamilton's attack at Dunblane was around four to five minutes long.

And very recently there were Arcan Cetin, who killed 5 people in a mall in one minute, and Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, who killed 5 and shot 6 more in an airport in less than one and a half minutes.
I would double check the times here but I think it's generally accurate.

Jesse Osborne's shooting only lasted 12 seconds.

I just remembered that Martin Bryant killed 20 people and injured 12 in 90 seconds inside a café.

Yeah the massacre from start to finish was long, that is why is said he killed the 20 and injured 12 in the Café in 90 seconds. Even though the massacre continued after the café murders it still only took 90 seconds for the killings in the Café.

Charles Whitman maybe, but I don't think they would of heard of British or even non-American Mass Shootings.

The shortest attack I know of the the very recent 2021 Hialeah shooting. CCTV available here. The gunmen are out of frame for around 5 seconds (presumably the length of the attack,) but wounded 20 and killed 2.

I think everybody knows, but the Greenwood Park Mall lasted 16 seconds, Something curious that I have noticed is that both the Saugus shooting and the Greenwood shooting lasted the same and had the same number of victims.
