Ten shot at apartment complex in San Bernardino, California

Ten people including children were shot at an apartment complex in San Bernardino, California Sunday night, police said, with three people in dire condition.

"We got a call about 10:45 p.m. for shots fired," said San Bernardino spokesman Capt. Richard Lawhead. "We found 10 victims down at the scene. Three are extremely critical."

The shooting happened on a hot holiday weekend in the city that is about 60 miles (96 km) east of Los Angeles.

People were gathered outside playing games in a common area of an apartment complex of about 100 units, police said.

Lawhead said that as of early Monday, detectives do not have a suspect or a motive in the shooting. No weapons were recovered at the scene, he said.

The shooting took place a week after a gunman shot nine people and killed two competitors at a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida August 26.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KFSN) -- According to police, 10 people are in the hospital this Labor Day following a gun battle in one San Bernardino neighborhood in Southern California.

Three people are in critical condition following the shooting late Sunday night.

Authorities say officers arrived to find an unruly crowd and those injured in a common area of an apartment complex. They say people had gathered to play a game, possibly dice, and the shooting started when someone showed up to that gathering.

Officials say there is gang activity in the area but could not say if the shooting was gang-related at this point.

No arrests have been made.




No fatalities being reported.

Actually from the article I gathered it was possibly gang related. Also if it is deemed to be gang activity then it will be dropped from the headlines, and you probably will hear nothing else about it.

Apparently witnesses and people who were shot are not willing to co-operate with the police and tell them what happened, probably out of fear or retaliation.

Most likely. "Snitches" don't seem to survive long in those type of situations.
