Columbine students start campaign to show photos of their dead body's...

If they were to die in gun violence.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. Seeing how Parkland media whore David Hogg is one of the main faces behind it, I can't help but think it might not have the best intentions behind it.
What are your thoughts on this campaign?

it's interesting because it reminds me of something I saw Devon post about how there are too many euphemisms about "tragedies" she was saying we should say what it was. Kid's bodies were torn apart. There were too many sugar coating words.

That and the fact that showing pictures of dead teenagers won't do a thing to change gun reform laws or mental health issues in the United States.

We need to get to the root of the problem, and sadly photos will do nothing in that regard.

We saw what happened with Suzano, that didn't change anything.
Within 4 hours UNCENSORED pictures of the gunmen and some victims were available to all online.

I don't think doing this would make much difference.

Why not just release victim photos from past shootings instead of waiting for more people to die in future shootings...

We've seen crime scene photos/videos of past mass shootings, including the San Ysidro one. That didn't change anything.

We've seen UNCENSORED surveillance videos of mass shootings where you can see people getting shot. That didn't change anything.

We've seen cell phone videos of the direct aftermath of mass shootings, including the Parkland video. That barely changed anything.

Hell, you can even argue that showing uncensored crime scene photos of previous school shootings won't change anything.

This campaign won't change anything. All it will only do is fulfill sick people's desires of seeing pictures of shooting deaths.

Strange how they want to show more whereas in NZ they try to show less.

Now although I don't see what would change with showing the pictures, if they expect to have even the slightest influence it should be shown to many people. And yet you cannot really show this in mainstream medias, such as the TV news given that it could be seen by children. I don't really understand who should be the target of this campaign and see the pictures. Adults? Teenagers?

I wouldn't want such a sticker on my I.D., I would fear it brings me bad luck.

Unfortunately in today's day and age things like this are done more for attention than anything else.
There are boatloads of real ways kids can help with gun violence and mental health issues in our country.
I'm pretty sure if you're under 18 in the USA, your parents are still your legal guardians, and thus they have the final say if photos of your dead body are to be released.

I remember when that one girl Nikki Catsouras (sp?) photos were leaked. She died in a car accident not a shooting but it was very controversial. In any case some were hoping seeing her exploded head would stop others from doing what she did and of course it did not

People go to gore websites and look at all kinds of horrible images all day long. I dont see what showing people these pics would do

I mean the Charles Whitman photos have been out for decades and did they do anything?

Agreed, and we've all seen these awful graphic pictures in anti-smoking campaigns and yet people still smoke.

I really don't think people need to see it. 

It would be interesting, but it's pointless. If the photos get publicised, they get publicised. If they don't, they don't.
