Subject: 1992 Bard College Shooting (Wayne Lo) Tue May 28, 2019 7:52 am
On the morning of December 14, 1992, the receptionist at Bard College intercepted a package that contained ammunition, addressed to Wayne Lo. She notified the college residence directors and called for his dorm to be investigated. A residence director searched his room, but found nothing: Lo had already hidden the ammunition he'd been stockpiling, and claimed the ammo in the package was a Christmas gift for his father. Off the hook, Lo took a taxi to Dick's Sporting Goods and purchased a semi-automatic rifle, and returned to the campus. At 10:20 PM, Lo opened fire, killing two students and injuring four others, in various parts of the school. On foot to a dormitory, Lo's rifle jammed, and he dropped his weapon and phoned the police to surrender.
At his trial, Lo made a plea for insanity. He was found guilty on all 17 charges against him. He is currently serving two life sentences without possibility of parole.
25 years after the shooting, he took part in a brief interview with the father of one of the victims:
