Does anyone know why they moved Rachel from the place where she died but left Dan R near to the spot he died?

IIRC, they were not originally sure Rachel was dead. She wasn't in a place where LE felt they could safely assess if she was alive so they moved her. Then, I think she was moved again kids were tripping over and having to jump over Rachel's body.
