Francis Tovey - constructs "suicide robot", kills himself with its help

I don't know if this is the correct section to post this case, but since I see that suicide is generally considered "a crime", I decided to post it here, but feel free to move it to the correct section if this is the wrong one.

It is about a case of DIY suicide machine that happened in 2008 in Australia by an 81-year-old man originating from England named Francis Tovey. He apparently downloaded instructions from the internet and made the machine, rigged a gun to it, and activated it, from which it fatally shot him in the head. Here's the complete story:

An Australian man killed himself by building a complex “suicide machine” from plans on the internet and then programming it to remotely shoot him.

Notes left by Francis Tovey, 81, who lived alone on the Gold Coast, revealed that he had scoured the internet for information before constructing his machine. It was reported to have involved a jigsaw power tool and was connected to a .22 semi-automatic pistol loaded with four bullets that could fire multiple shots.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reported that Mr Tovey – who was born in England – set the machine up in his driveway so that his body would be found.

Carpenter Daniel Skewes, who was working next door, heard gunshots and ran to Mr Tovey’s home. “I thought I heard three shots and when we ran next door he was lying on the driveway with gunshot wounds to the head,” Mr Skewes said.

The newspaper said that Mr Tovey’s notes said he was looking for a way out after coming under pressure from relatives to move from his home into an old people’s home. A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said Mr Tovey had lived at his £450,000 home on Gabrielle Grove since 1984.

“He was born in England. He had visitors from England and family interstate from somewhere far away in Australia." “There was no inkling of anything amiss, it is just very sad.”

While I found this case pretty sad, I'm surprised to see that it is somewhat obscure and forgotten, like the other suicide from a teenager who built a helmet programmed to shot himself in the head. I wonder he was afraid of wanting to shot himself in the head but was in a desperate case of euthanasia help, so he built the robot? Interesting case.
