Dylan's band? Empty
PostSubject: Dylan's band?   Dylan's band? Icon_minitimeMon Feb 10, 2014 1:34 pm

I was just browsing through some pics and noticed Dylan playing the drums. I can't really recall reading much about him being in a band.

He only looks to be young on the picture, maybe around 13 years old. Who was in his group, or was it just a bit of a one off thing he did playing some easy beat along with a couple of pals?

I think Dylan could have made quite a decent drummer - something he could throw himself into and get rid of a bit of his aggression that way.

I can't recall Eric playing an instrument either? What instrument do you think would have suited him? I can't see him as a guitarist or singer. I'd probably have him down as a keyboard player or something like that.

Yes, Brooks Brown had a band and Dylan played drums there, so it had to be something of a while with a couple of pals because he didnt continue with it.

Was it this picture of Dylan as a child? This was what first came to my mind when i thought of Dylan playing the drums: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Sorry it's not the best quality i just took this image straight from Google images.

This particular picture was supposedly originally taken by Judy Brown, Brooks is on the saxophone. The photograph shows Dylan and Brooks playing in a band at a local talent show, they were in the sixth grade at the time. (Taken from NEA)
Mr Klebold indicated that Brooks used to have a band and that Dylan payed drums in that band. pg(10510)
Brooks also played the drums and his brother Aaron the keyboard in a band they called "Second Sedition." This was in the summer between Brooks' junior and senior year. Dylan however was not a part of this band. (Taken from NEA)
Mr Klebold mentions Dylan having drum lessons, but didn't recall any other extracurricular activities in junior high school other than baseball. pg(10508)

I could be incorrect but it sounds to me as if Dylan was in a band with Brooks only when he was younger. As Mj2beat suggested it appears that neither continued with the band.

I'm not so sure about Eric playing any musical instruments or in any bands, perhaps others may know more about this. This is probably not relevant but I remember Mr Mauser stating in his book that when he met with Mr and Mrs Harris they informed him that Eric was not interested in joining any clubs at Columbine. I would guess the "clubs" included possibly music / band lessons, although somehow i can't imagine him doing anything like this in high school. He may have taken music lessons or played an instrument as a child but i'm not sure.

I can't see that picture you posted but here is a link to the one I saw...

Looking again he probably is a year or two younger than my guess of 13 (I'm not too sure what age someone would be in 6th grade - we don't use those terms over here).

Mr. Klebold said that Dylan could learn how to play drums at Ken Caryl Junior High School after the CHIPS program so he was like 12 years old at that time.

Ps. you should upload that picture in a different way because here is againts the rules upload a picture that you can see directly at a personal profile or blog

Yeah that's the same picture. I would guess 6th Grade is around 11/12 years old. I also have never really used the "grade" term and it's confused me many times before  Smile

you are right, the age at 6th grade is 11/12 years old, here is different too so thats why I was a bit confuse about it. Dylan could have on the picture like 12

Posting photos that link to someones personal account is against the rules. I have edited out the link to the profile and posted the picture. Next time, please post the picture directly to the thread with the 'host an image' button. Thank you.
