A general thread to discuss Nizhny Novgorod shooting (2020).
On the 12th of October, 2020, Danil Monakhov, armed with 2 shotguns, critically injured his grandmother Galina who later died in hospital and killed a neighbor who tried to stop him. Then he opened a fire on the bus stop in Bolsheorlovskoye settlement near Nizhny Novgorod city. Danil's corpse was discovered the next day in the nearest woods. 5 people died as a result of the shooting (including the shooter).
Danil's acquaintances described him as a shy and quiet person. Some sources even mentioned strangenesses in his behaviour - Danil would ask if the water "wasn't poisoned" if someone offered him a glass of water. One his acquaintances also mentioned that Danil originally threatened to shoot up the school in 2019 and openly told about his interest in mass shootings, the but matter was hushed up.
Danil was born with a heart defect, was frequently hospitalized and even underwent a serious surgery. He was also suffering from asthma and nervous tics and enrolled into a special boarding school for students with special needs. Other sources also mentioned that Danil was planning to undergo another surgery in the future; one particular source also mentioned that Danil had only a few years to live due to his condition.
One gun was officially registered on Danil's name and another one was his father's. Danil and his father would frequently hunt ducks together. Danil somehow managed to officialy get a gun license even despite the fact that he was visiting a psychiatrist because of his depression.
