[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I think his anger is misplaced and all times a bit outrageous but damn I feel bad for the guy, losing child to such senseless violence is tragic but to have it confirmed by a newsletter picture … there are just no words.
I've never seen the picture of Danny dead on the sidewalk so zoomed in and clear like that. Heartbreaking. I hate those cops all over again for not moving his body or at least covering it with a sheet.
Be warned that host's accent may cause inappropriate laughter when he says 'Harris'. Or your view up Brian'ś nose … just sayin.

I think it's the whole only-the-strong survive mentality.

I always thought that was a weird video, I didn't expect Brian to bring those points up to somehow justify or accept the death of his son.

I have not watched this particular video quite yet but I have to say I do agree with Brian a bit because of course his son was killed but his views on certain things bother me. To consider himself a Christian, but not forgive Eric and Dylan and portray such anger just is wrong to me.

He needs to put WWJD back into his mind if he wants to be that way.

for a certain period when he was quite public and vocal after Columbine (I listened to every episode he was in on a christian radio show), he had shared and stood by the point that one reason Columbine happened because schools were no longer implementing religious/christian religious studies to the kids and that our generation have became more complacent with the things we were learning and there was a lack of structure within us. So, tied to this video, sure he's unforgiving of E&D but he also somehow blames the murder on lack of christian practise. Like, he thinks lack of religion is a problem.

"I put him in a pagan school, where they teach there is no God"

I don't get his thinking, Columbin, the students inside, and the Littleton community in general always seemed oddly, almost disgustingly, religious

Brian R's justification of being a Christian and refusing to forgive E & D is that since E &D died unrepentant he doesn't have to forgive.
The Bible doesn't say that and that's not how it works. He could not be more wrong.
He can't forgive so he has convinced himself its justified by his religion but I'm sorry its not.
I understand how hard it would be to forgive that but he's not justified here by his belief system.

Sometimes I wonder how religions some of these people are.
I don't know if she still claims to be or not but Val Schnurr was supposed to be a Christian and was held up as a Christian icon but she said some things about E &D back in 2011 that were as Unchristian as you could get.

I just feel and this is all my personal opinion but we have no idea what Eric and Dylan thought in their last moments. He has no way of knowing whether or not they asked for forgiveness or not. But that is beyond the point. It is not his place to judge at all. If he read any of Jesus' words he would know this.

Would their basement tape monologues be an example of seeking forgiveness? Well, rather they apologised. If it's not my imagination they were speaking to their family members respectively and apologising for what they were gonna put them through after NBK etc...I mean, that entire goodbye tape to me sounds like a form of release for themselves like a final confessional.

edit: but I guess it doesn't really have a link to deserving forgiveness but I'm just saying perhaps through the boys' POV they felt like that was their final clean-up of conscience before kill time.

I agree about how religious that community is, it's almost cult like indoctrination or something.

I have very little patience for listening to this man anymore. If he's talking about his son, and his faith in how it's related to his son's life, his loss, and personal things like that, then I can deal with it. What an absolutely unthinkable tragedy to live with.

What I cannot tolerate is how he has used his son to push his almost Fundamentalist Christian agenda. "Pagan" schools causing these tragedies? Not just a dumb thing said once, but something that he repeats on a regular basis, as part of his preaching - I'm pretty pissed, as are a lot of other Pagan folk. Don't blame us just because you need things to make sense. He also is pretty vocal about protesting abortion clinics and the anti-choice agenda. Can't remember, right this moment, where he stands on the LGBTQ issues, but I'm sure I can guess. My heart aches for his loss, and for the losses of all of the families. On a personal level, he makes me pretty damn disgusted and angry.

Well as we know, not all Christians are "perfect Christians" - in fact, many of them are far from the "ideal", and to be perfectly honest, if there was ever anyone for her to talk about in an "unchristian" way, I'm pretty sure she gets a pass for speaking ill of the dipshits who fired several bullets into herself and others (I don't even know what comments she made that you're referring to, just wanted to point that out).

I remember one thing that Valeen said which was covered during a podcast on Columbine; after 4/20 and after Valeen has healed apparently a few of the evangelical christians kept trying to paint Valeen into a martyr and were embellishing her in such a way that even she felt threatened and disgusted by it. She said something along the lines of, She finds it harder to forgive the christians for doing that to her than forgiving Eric and Dylan. If a survivor could say something like that about their perpetrators, than it shows how much the religious group were crossing the line at trying to do something "good".
I try to stay away from religion as much as I could because there are many who take their faith beyond the line and try to bring everybody with them.
