Medical Bills

Did the injured students families have to pay for their own medical bills or did charities etc help?

They paid those medical bills by suing E & D's parents for parental negligence, I believe.

Was the lawsuit successful? If so, that's dumb. Like it's their parents' fault they shot up their school.

I know with Robyn’s lawsuit her parents insurance or something paid it out so Robyn herself didn’t go into debt. I don’t know about Sue though to be honest. I thought she talked a little bit about it in her book. But I don’t remember if I am confusing her talking about their financial situation before or after. I just know Dylan’s life insurance paid the first lawyers bill.

Yup, the families of more than 30 victims got to share 2.53 million dollars. Most of it came from E & D's families. Yes, it was wrong to turn the parents into scapegoats in this case, since they weren't abusive or "neglectful". Nobody expects their kid to commit a school massacre. But when someone hurts you, you instinctively want to hurt them back. It stems from a primitive need for self-defense. And since the killers weren't around anymore, the parents of the victims tried to gain retribution by taking out their anger on the parents. Most human beings have a subjective way of reasoning. I should add that not every family of the victims filed a lawsuit against E & D's parents. Daniel Mauser's parents didn't sue, which is the reason why EH's parents agreed to meet up with Daniel's parents several years after the school shooting took place.
