Have your thoughts of the incident changed between the time you first heard about it and now? Why/why not?

Very understandable.

The more I research this, the more I notice how much of an asshole Randy was (even though that was already noticeable on the suicide tapes). I could make a list of all the little fucked up things that he did.

Also, I noticed how important his fanbase was for him. This isn’t mention very often, but in 2014/15 he lost many of his fans, and some from the “core” of his fanbase (both for his shitty attitude towards them, and because he started changing his content). That had to affect him also, because by that point the only thing that he had on his life was Youtube.

If you go back and listen to the 3 drive suicide tapes, you’ll notice that he’s not talking to the “fans of the future”, or to the people that’ll know about him after his death… he’s talking to his fans from Pioneers Productions, he talks about many things that only they know. It’s like he was saying goodbye to them. Looking back on those tapes (and the house tour, also) they sound like one of the livestreams that he used to do back on 2013/14.

Those are good points. I would say in that case that his wish of staying in his childhood extended to the channel that he tried to grow in that time as well.
