Wow! I'm beyond shocked. I didn't think they'd ever come out.I know that's what E &D wanted but I wish this wasn't happening. It's going to stir all this back up again for all involved. E &D's families' will probably start getting hate mail and death threats again.They've been through so much Hell already.It will stir up the pain again for the relatives of the victim's.If they've waited this long to release them,they should have been kept under wraps.If they were going to release them,they should have done it years ago.

Actually, I am agree with you. Watch those tapes would be interesting, but is not the right moment. There are a lot of interests in the middle and many people involved in the case that would be harmed with the release -like you explain in the first post-, are still alive.

They've already fallen for it on tumblr.

I knew it was going to happen. It'll possibly go around for a week or so, and there will be a few of them writing long posts about how they can't wait to see Eric without a shirt on.

I honestly agree with you, PaintItBlack. If these things are ever released, it is much too late. They should have done it immediately, or at least in 2006 when they released the journals. They were being pressured to do so at that time, anyway, but they declined.

I honestly don't think they're ever going to be released, and in many ways I am glad. I wish they were released in the beginning or in the early 2000s, but there will be nothing but multiple problems at this stage, or even later on.

I feel like it'd be better if they'd release them in a year when there aren't as many shootings. 2014 has been pretty violent so far, shootings-wise. Contrary to what fangirls always say, the amount of attention the basement tapes would get could surely "inspire" some kids to get famous in the same way.
Just look at the hype Elliot Rodger got after people saw his video. (I know the article was a joke, but they still shouldn't be released so soon)

I myself would like to see them released, just to get a taste of personalities. EH and DK still strike me as the 'boys next door' type - common kids - although it may just be where i live. Even through all the racism and bullying and sexism and vandalism... that's all pretty standard behaviour here, sadly. Would like to see what made them click; what made them a little different.
But, I agree, this really isn't the time for them to be released anyway. I think the time for release is in the past... unless they release them along with a bunch of other withheld evidence from JeffCo from other cases (though i can't for the life of me think of something relevant to the BT...). Huh. Really, the chance has come and gone in 2006.

When i first saw this thread my initial reaction was "no way." Then i imagined some really terrible chopped up version of the basement tapes been released. I had this thought before i clicked the link. I can imagine Tumblr is going crazy over this, or was.

I didn't even look at the link or read the article. I did not think of it being a joke because of all the things for the families I've feared would happen with the release. Silly me:)
