New info about the perpetrators:

* There were 6 perpetrators involved in the attack, but only 4 of them were actively involved while 2 others (later killed by the police) apparently helped them logistically.
* The perpetrators have been identified as: Muhammadsobir Fayzov, Shamsuddin Fariduni, Dalerzhon Mirzoev (who was presented as ''the ringleader of the attacks'') and Saidakrami Rachabalizoda.
* All of them are Tajik nationals
* Mirzoev had an expired permit to be in Novosibirsk
* Fayzov has been obsessed with ISIS since childhood; he even posted a drawing of IS flag on his VK page when he was only 12.

Hard to say. Perhaps there were really just 4 and all got caught alive. And all were working class Tajiks who happened to do it for money. But that is radically different from all the previous jihadi attacks in Russia, where the perpetrators were mostly caucasian independence oriened militants who would fight to the death and never get arrested.
The past attackers were usually either young single men, or the widows of militants killed before.

Moreover, when ISIS sends such people out to conduct an organized attack, they have them make some sort of filmed statement in the vein of: "I am embraking on a holy jihad against the kuffar and rafidun to save our people!". Then said videos are released for propaganda reasons and the attackers are declared martyrs by ISIS.
None of this has happened, no such videos were released, ISIS did not confirm that the captyured men are the ones who made the attacks and they were not declared martyrs.

Putin's Russia has a long and well documented history of spreading fake news, making coverups and deliberate false flag operations.

I'm not saying that I know for a fact that the Russian version of the story is all a lie. But given what I outlined above, I feel we need at least seriously consider the possibility that these four men are random Tajik scapegoats while the real assilants all got away.

It would be a HUGE humiliation for Putin if he wasn't able to capture the attackers. So perhaps when he wasn't able to do it, he decided to cover up this fact. Life is cheap in Russia, nobody is gonna care about some 4 blue collar Tajik guys.



Once ISIS openly admitts that these guys were indeed the attackers, then I will have no reason to doubt the Russian story. Until then, I'm gonna stay rather skeptical.

It'll be interesting to find out where the weapons came from.

From what I heard, one of the police who caught these guys cut off one of the ears of one of the shooters and tried to make the shooter eat it. So don't shoot up a mall in Russia.

The media claim that of the 139 dead, 40 people were killed by Islamists directly from small arms. 99 people suffocated and died in the fire.

I noticed this too, both were hidden in corners as well. They also recorded on body cams (however not broadcasted on a streaming platform) and burned down part of the building after they moved on, which Tarrant indented to do after he shot up the first mosque. I think they took some reference to it and used Christchurch as a base reference to their attack.
