Was that on one of his Watchpeopledie accounts? I don't remember him posting anything to do with the Iowa shooting, but I was skimming through his posts to archive them, so could have missed it.

I also wonder if he was inspired by/knew about Thomas Hamilton at all. The Dunblane Massacre is often described as "The UK's Sandy Hook" and Thomas Hamilton was a pedophile who shot up the school directly because of his pedophilia. It's also the most well-known mass shooting within the UK apart from maybe the Hungerford Massacre, so it would be interesting if he'd have heard of it at all.

Possibly not as it's not that covered similar with Amish school shooting (similar to Dunblane), Veshkayma kindergarden shooting (similar to dunblane), Nong Bua Lamphu massacre (the daycare massacre), and maybe even Izhevsk (it can fit the criteria as he was an ex pupil adult targetting everyone at his former elementary school where youngest victim was 7.)

It's just because Dunblane is the most well-recognized mass shooting in the UK. It's the only school shooting that's happened there and the word "Dunblane" is synonymous with school shootings as "Columbine" is in the US. It's not that far of a reach to say he'd have heard of Thomas Hamilton, given the notoriety of Dunblane and Thomas Hamilton in the UK.

Maybe he bought it online and the person he bought it from didn't check to see if he had a license? If you just look up the type of shotgun on google you can see loads of listings to buy it in the UK.
But he probably just bought it from someone who knew how to get one for him. Although there's no point really speculating, because the information about the gun will probably come out sooner or later.
