It appears that way based on the third photo in the set above. However, on page 22 of the following report (https://schoolshooters.info/sites/default/files/Official_Sandy_Hook_Report.pdf) a description is given of his corpse, including his attire, and the hat is not mentioned. Maybe it was knocked off his head by the gunshot or something? I'm not really a gun guy.

I do believe so as he shot himself in the lower rear back of head up through his head and hat and into the ceiling, on the photo of the black boone hat you can see hairs and fragments of his head on the exit wound. Something strange though is that i believe a 10mm round from his Glock should of put a larger exit wound and hole in his hat as well as it looks more like an entry wound than an exit but i guess the round in the ceiling dismisses that |

I frequently wear the same type of hat that he wore and a few times I've fallen asleep with it on and when I've woken up it's fallen off my head. If it fell off just when I've went to sleep, I wouldn't be surprised if it was knocked off his head with the gunshot or fell off while/after he fell. | |

| Boonie hats, as some in the military call them (though I am not sure of the official name) fall off all the time. There's a reason they are very rarely used in combat operations. Dude was an Edgelord who wanted to look badass while murdering children.
The 10mm would leave a much larger hole in the flesh than it would the fabric. Pretty much every bullet wound from a hollow or soft point does that. I have an old set of uniform trousers with a neat hole in either side...and a gigantic exit wound on my leg from the same round. Flesh and fabric apparently react very differently to bullets! | |

| Blood and perhaps brain matter is visible on the second photograph provided.
I wonder if he used hollow-point bullets for his suicide, considering that the bullet appears fragmented on the last photograph. | |
