Eric and Dylan relationship Empty
PostSubject: Eric and Dylan relationship   Eric and Dylan relationship Icon_minitimeTue Apr 03, 2018 9:30 pm

What was their relationship like? Some people say Eric thought of Dylan as a best friend, which Eric had wrote in his journal numerous times. But Dylan thought of Eric as just a friend, someone he maybe didn't care much about.

I'm interested because this wasn't 1 shooter, it was 2 guys planning this for a year. And I want to know what you guys think on how they interacted with one each other. Were they kind to each other? Thought of each other as frivolous maybe? Maybe they fought a lot? Maybe they just fed off each others despair and hate? I heard all the time they did spend together near the end of their life was just planning the massacre, not to just hang out or anything.

Thoughts?

Interesting question. There’s been a lot of discussion about it. Especially when you look at their diversion  records and also what each of them wrote in each other’s yearbook. Dylan wrote about seven pages in Eric’s yearbook . That shows a lot of care I think.  There’s also speculation and what the quote “maybe going NBK (gawd) with Eric.. “ means. Why did Dylan write gawd..

Robyn talked about how Dylan never wanted Eric to be left out. He made sure that Eric had a great 18th birthday. And wanted everyone attend the party. However, I think it was Devon who said that Eric telling Donna nobody really liked him and he was his only friend. Have you read A mothers reckoning? Also there are some people who do believe that Dylan is the one that told Brooks about Eric’s website....

Also, and the thread is somewhere on the site, There was a comment from their boss at blackjacks who said they did  get into a fight didn’t  talk for a couple days.

They were friends I believe since eighth grade? But then towards the end you’re right they kind of wandered off together and isolated themselves from everyone. However I imagine  they had to have been somewhat close to keep that secret between themselves  and also killing and dying with each other. I have no doubt that that affected Dylan’s friends who thought of him as their best friend.

I do somewhat buy into how Eric wanted to kill and didn’t care if he died and Dylan wanted to die and didn’t care if he killed. But I think Eric’s  depression and Dylan’s anger are  overlooked way too much . And they shouldn’t be.
I think Eric gave Dylan a good outlet for his anger and Eric felt safe being vulnerable around Dylan.

Dylan is the one started to dress a little more alternative with his trenchcoat and long hair and sunglasses and Eric followed suit with the cost.

I think there are bits in their films that clue you in to their relationship (Radioactive Clothinh, Rampart Range, HFH and Car Wax)

It’s one of the most interesting things about the case to me.

IMO it was because Dylan found the name to be silly.

I think they were friends, but that Eric got more friends because of Dylan. I think all the rest - Zach, Nate, etc were all Dylan's friends and became Eric's friends by association. I think Eric needed Dylan way more than Dylan needed Eric.

I think that Eric was Dylan's friend but also his means to an end. He used Eric's anger and rage and built them up until NBK was also in his mind. I wouldn't be surprised if Dylan planted NBK in Eric's mind and made him think it was his idea. Just so he would go along with it

That doesn't make sense, Dylan was the one who liked Natural Born Killers to begin with, right?

He did seem to emulate Mickeys style. I think Dylan’s suglasses were similar to his.

Yes, I watched the movie and I definitely feel like Dylan wanted to be similar to him and took his character seriously. I think the "gawd" was more an expression of how his negative feelings had gone to far and he now had a feeling of not being able to go back to coping with them by repressing them and pretending they don't exist

Even if he did he can still think that labeling the upcoming massacre as "going NBK" to be stupid sounding. Makes sense to me.

Dylan first called it NBK in February 1998, when he was hoping to get his revenge on society with a girl, and this was a couple of months before Eric started his journal. I think his "gawd" reaction was probably because NBK was supposed to be a twisted love story, a crime spree involving a man and woman, which was Dylan's ideal fantasy. To continue to call it NBK after it was decided that Eric was going to be his partner may have felt silly to him.

i interpret it more as shock and disbelief to even imagine doing something like that, as if he wrote it in the early stages of planning it and still hadn't gotten used to the thought of it or was as determined to do it as he was later on
