Part 1.0 – The depiction of Tim Kretschmer
(Author: Rüdiger Rohde)
The public depiction of Tim Kretschmer by the authorities and mass media in March 2009
This young man, the alleged perpetrator, who after a few gun fights was found dead in Wendlingen on a parking lot, was quickly given the image of a hopeless psychopath. However, this image soon became rather inconclusive.
How was Tim Kretschmer depicted after the mass murder?
1. He allegedly announced his shooting on the internet.
2. He supposedly played “killer games”, as late as the evening before the attack according to the police. This was supported by the Spiegel-Online on March 14 according to whom the evaluation of his computer showed that he was playing Far Cry 2 from 19:30 to 21:40.
3. Recovering of 200 pornographic pictures, 120 of those displaying bound women.
4. The father was displayed as a gun nut, both he and his son were members of a gun club, Tim being a good shot.
5. Depression and five ambulant stays at a psychiatric clinic, where he reported violent fantasies in a confidential conversation.
6. Love related anguish?, as was reported for some time
7. Bullying in his old school.
8. Loner
9. He informed himself about previous mass shootings on the internet under the pseudonym JawsPredator1. (In forums about the school shootings in Erfurt and Emsdetten). “The perpetrator is believed to be the author” according to Spiegel Online on March 14. A few weeks later not much of this was left.
1)
The announcement on the internet was a fake, we dont know by whom, the writer was never identified, at least not publicly. Fact is, that the state attorney (spokesperson: Claudia Krauth), the minister of the interior Heribert Rech, the Polizeipräsident Erwin Hetger etc. claimed that they found relevant data and evidence on the computer of Tim Kretschmer.
That was a lie.
Its irrelevant who told them of those data, whoever publicized this fake, the police tried to support the fake with their lies. This is aggregating enough and begs the question, if the police themselves arent behind the forgery.
It was also claimed that a boy from Bavaria and a boy from North Rhine-Westfalia participated in this chat of the night of March 11, which implies the chat actually existed. This was publicized by the Waibling police spokesperson Klaus Hinderer.
If this entry was made at the alleged time and wasnt written by Tim Kretschmer, then by whom?
In this case there has to be a person who knew what would happen that day.
Minister of the interior Rech announced that he planned to investigate and uncover this case and also wait for the connection data of the USA based servers.
This has not happened to this day! Why not? This alleged mischief finally disappeared completely from the public discourse.
Update: One year lager, March 2010, it was announced that the author of the fake could not be determined anymore because the data from the USA servers wasnt available anymore. The forgery was posted on the afternoon of March 11. 2009.
Seriously? This doesnt really come of as a surprise, not did they only lie about the alleged data on the PC of Tim Kretschmer, but also claimed that two witnesses saw the forum entry and chat, even took part in it.
So what happened to those witnesses?
It was a double lie. This could not have been a coincidence.
2)
That story of the killer games doesnt prove anything. First the police claimed that Tim played around 2 hours of Far Cry 2 on the evening before the shooting, but then they denied the story they themselves have publicized. Finally the last time he played an ego shooter was set to March 8.
In other words: Tim Kretschmer didnt seem to be an avid gamer after all. Thus the police was spreading misinformation before.
PS:
According to the gaming scene, Tim Kretschmer possessed a Steam account, however he didnt appear to be using it much at all.
3)
Pornos: It will be harder to not find such material on the computer of a 17 year old, his parents would have had to worry more if he wasnt interested in it. Later it was told that he watched Pornos till 12:20pm.
Seems like Tim Kretschmer had some fun with it.
But this shows something different: the statement of the police that there were also images of bound women leads to the conclusion that the police/their employer tried to manipulate the public. Because obviously they wanted to link this to the fact, that most victims were female.
4)
Tim Kretschmer was acquainted with guns simply because of his father, however he himself shot softair guns and paintball. He only fired a real gun three times. In the gun club where Tim was merely a passive member.
Which should evaporate the story of a gun nut and trained shooter. That there was a gun range in the basement of the family, as claimed by Michael Veit on TV, could not be verified by the police either. (At least not a “proper” one, an improvised range could have been possible, it can be assumed).
5)
No insight of depression. The five ambulant appointments in the mental hospital Weinsberg were directly linked to the draft received by the military.
Who didnt want to be drafted into the Bundeswehr, knows from experience what was thought of, discussed and maybe done to prevent it.
6)
Love: no insight by police – according to them.
7)
Bullying: no insight by police, instead the hints, that these claims could have been bought material. According to “Werben und Verkaufen (.de)” from March 16, the pupils where told what to say in front of the camera in exchange for cash.
Loner: no insight by police – according to them.
9)
in Mai 2009 it was said in the mutual press conference of district attorney Stuttgart and the police Waiblingen: “an evaluation of Tim Kretschmers internet history showed that the perpetrator informed himself about the Columbine school shooting and the Erfurt massacre.”
The Süddeutsche was already better informed on March 13. 2009. In this article, referring to a Winnenden newspaper, the German and Ethnics teacher of Tim Kretschmer, Theresia Zurhorst explained, that she had the class write a paper about the topic “Tougher gun laws, yes or no?” only a few weeks prior. An entire unit according to her was dedicated to the topic computer games, Erfurt massacre and the reaction of the state.
The authorities didnt seem to care about this at all.
(Thanks to Grübel for the hint!).
Tim Kretschmer graduated Albertville-Realschule with an average grade of about 3.0, was attending college, was socially secured thanks to his wealthy parents and had at least one future perspective due to the firm of his father.
FOCUS, March 16 2009:
“Karl-Heinz Donner, president of the private school, describes Tim Kretschmer as a rather integrated youth. He often told that he wanted to study after his Fachabitur and then work in the firm of his father. “
But of course such things dont mean anything.
In the end, the investigators had to admit that they couldnt find any motive for the attack.
Though this insight shouldnt stop them from talking about it in the media.
Conclusion:
The head of the district attorney Stuttgart, Mahler, showcased the foundings on Tims computer little spectaculary in a press conference on March 12. 2009.
First they found pornographic pictures, though not of a quantity or type that would beg a special explanation. Additionally, the playing of violent games was not exceptional either, as many of Tims peers did the same.
Of this little spread moderate assessment not much remained in the following weeks, especially not in the media.
The responsible authorities were supposed to quickly offer a profile of the perpetrator working with the uncritical and helpful mass media. There is nothing wrong with that, if the authorities didnt use the chance to manipulate public opinion (“Killer games”, “Pornos”), withhold information (School shootings as a topic at school) and lied twice in one case.
We too wonder for the motive.
This picture of the alleged perpetrator could not be uphold anymore, it proved itself as wrong and obsolete.
And the investigators have not been able to find nor determine a motive for such a crime.
We too ask ourselves: if a 17 year old decided, driven by hate to mass murder, who or what was this hatred directed at? What relationship was there between the perpetrator and the victims at the school? Why would a 17 year old murder in his old school, where the old class doesnt exist anymore, and in two classes he had no relation to? Why not his current class at the college in Waiblingen? Hatred against old teachers? But those definetly were not the targets.
There is not a single hint for a motive.
