| Removed because it occured to me that this may be considered "slander" or whatever.

| This is a good question about the incident. There could be a lot more nuance, and I am not saying Det. Walsh did anything etc.. but I do sometimes wonder if they got roughed up a bit?
I know most of us assume the anger and wrath come because they were caught and embarrassed. Eric writes in his journal " Isnt america supposed to be the land of the free? how come, If im free, I cant deprive a stupid fucking dumbshit from his possessions If he leaves then sitting in the front seat of his fucking van out in plain sight and in the middle fucking nowhere on a Fri fucking day night. NATURAL SELECTION. fucker should be shot."
I always thought that when he wrote "I hurt" it was more inside, internally he felt hurt and scared about what his parents would think and do. Then that sadness turned to anger. Much like I believe Dylan's did.
According to A Mother's Reckoning I don't think Dylan felt as remorseful as Eric.
I am also so curious about the Nixon tape being censored too... if it was just about hating school and the world, wouldn't they release it, if it was the same stuff he wrote about?
I also don't think we have the complete transcripts of the Basement Tapes. _________________ "And you know, you know, you know, this can be beautiful, you say you're numb inside, but I can't agree. So the world's unfair, keep it locked out there. In here it's beautiful."

| I don't see the inferences here, seem like huge leaps.
1) Wrath and Godlike are both KMFDM songs and Eric wrote that the experience was rough; I tend to suspect in the yearbook Dylan was goading Eric using what was meaningful to Eric so he could commit suicide. As late as February Dylan seemed reluctant to go NBK.
2) Idk
3) No, not even close. Much more likely they outlined their plan and cops didn't want copycats.
4) Same as 3, on top of we'll never know
5) I don't see "I hurt" as any different from "I cried; I felt like hell", and he seems to pretty clearly state it's about being treated like a criminal. I don't think he means physical pain.

| No, I don't really think so. My gut feeling says no. They were teen boys. They were arrested. It was probably scary to a teen boy to be arrested. It was clearly upsetting to Eric. When he states that he hurts, I agree with the notion that he meant emotionally. This doesn't mean the officer did anything to the boys. |

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe Walsh or the other officers at JCSO decided to "teach them a lesson", either physically or verbally. I don't believe Dylan would think being rightfully arrested for committing a crime was worthy of "wrath." He was part-Ashkenazi Jew (known for their high IQs) and I just don't see him being that dumb. The way he worded his statement in Eric's yearbook just screams, "they treated us like shit and they will pay."

| I seriously doubt two white suburban teens got roughed up by police for stealing from a van. _________________ Minivans are not that much smaller than regular vans and I'll go to the f**king grave before I call them mini again.

Or he was just being a typical arrogant teenage dickhead who thinks all law enforcement are horrible, and the fact that the cops busted them for doing illegal shit is their fault, so fuck them, right?

This is the viewpoint I agree with most. I doubt the LE really did anything bad to them. It could, also, be that they were scared. They were teenage boys, let's remember. They were probably a bit scared of being arrested. I'm sure they didn't really know what was going to actually happen to them. Nothing bad, of course, but I don't expect them to know how the law system works in the states. But overall, I agree that they were just rageful for being arrested. We know they both hated authority. The LE didn't have to do anything but arrest the boys to end up higher on the list of things they hated. Eric and Dylan already hated them, so I imagine getting arrested would just make that 10x worse. |
