After a walk with 35-year-old João Ribeiro de Souza, 21-year-old Joaquim was invited by Souza to stay at his house to sleep. Joaquim accepted. Having dinner at the house of Souza, the house members went to a sleep.
In the sleep, Joaquim took a suspended axe on the wall and began hitting the children, killing five of them, two of whom were killed when trying to escape, Souza attempted to stop Joaquim, but was hit and killed.
He was later arrested, his deformed hand helped on his capture.
