Eminem's new song & mass shootings

Eminem has released his new track, Darkness, about mass shootings in America. The song focuses on the Vegas Shooting from the view of Stephen Paddock. The music video dramatizes some of the events in the hotel leading up to the shooting, the shooting itself, and Paddock's suicide. At the end of the video a bunch of news clips from mass shootings are overlaid to form a map of the US. The end states: “WHEN WILL THIS END? WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE CARE.”

What shootings were you able to pick out from the clips? I noticed Santa Fe from 2018, and the smaller shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

I noticed the Sutherland Springs shooting.

I find it kind of strange how he makes a song about Stephen Paddock’s mental state at the time of the shooting then ends the video promoting gun control as the only way to prevent mass shootings. Sounds like he’s pandering to the anti gun crowd. Regardless of political views, I still like the song and video.

I agree that Eminem should speak more on these mental health issues that he is singing about. It's like he kind of missed the mark on that. The song is good, and I think it has a good message. His heart is in the right place, imo.

He's gotten into some controversy because apparently another song from this new album mentions the bombing at the Ariana Grande concert.

Its perfectly legit to critisize gun laws, but in the US everyone thats critical towards gun access are labelled abti- gun.

Why is this not an issue in other countries?
