Nobody made a thread on this yet, so I figured we should have one considering how the narrative on this one's getting shaped and some interesting details.
Atlanta police said they were able to use video footage to identify Long’s car parked outside both locations at the time of the shootings. Meanwhile, his parents informed deputies that a tracking device could lead authorities to his Hyundai Tucson. Long told police Tuesday he was overwhelmed by what he described as a sexual addiction at odds with his religious beliefs, authorities said.
Quote :
In his possession, police found the 9mm believed to have been used in the shootings. Long had purchased it hours earlier at Big Woods Goods in Holly Springs, the store confirmed, declining to comment. Georgia doesn’t have a waiting period for buying guns. Long told investigators he was headed to Florida, which he considered to be a hub for the porn industry, authorities said.
Considering he bought the gun on the same day as the attacks, it makes me wonder how much actual experience he had with firearms and to what degree this crime was premeditated. I'm also curious what targets he had in mind at Florida and what his imagined end game was going to be. Maybe it'll come out during the trial. But here's what really catches my attention about the crime:
Quote :
Long, who is white, denied race was a motive
That right there is a critical detail that's been consistently under-reported or even dismissed outright by the media. In fact, the article I cited this from went on to say:
Quote :
Rosalind S. Chou, a Georgia State University sociology professor, said it would be an oversimplification to say the shootings weren’t hate crimes just because the suspect said race hadn’t motivated him. “The entire Asian massage parlor industry is sexualized in a particularly racialized way,” said Chou
So the anti-racism narrative has taken such deep root that we're not even allowed to take the gunman at his word. Now admittedly, it's possible he had a fetish for Asian women and chose his targets for that reason. But the media has been trying to tie this to COVID fears since the news broke out. See here to read the mainstream narrative.
Anyways, I wonder how the trial's going to go. Maybe he'll just plead guilty and that'll be all we hear about this ever again.

They've already decided on the racism narrative regardless of facts. Facts aren't as important as what they can use which is six dead Asians. It's a really strange time.
