Robyn Anderson's Comminications with Chris Kirk

1. On 03MAY99, investigation was initiated following the receipt of information from LT. Ryan BROOKHART, Security Manager, USS HYMAN G. RICKOVER (SSNT 709} who reported that YNSK Christopher Jason KIRK, USW, had received a package with an enclosed letter from Robyn Kay ANDERSON, the Columbine High School student who allegedly obtained weapons used in the 20APR99 shooting at Columbine High School.

2. On 04MAY99, Reporting Agent {RA} interviewed KIRK concerning the receipt of the package and letter, as well as his relationship with ANDERSON. According to KIRK, in DEC95 both he and ANDERSON began to E-Mail one another via the Internet. KIRK indicated he was a junior at the time and ANDERSON was a freshman. KIRK stated this relationship continued after he joined the Navy in JUN97. Additionally, on 20APR99, KIRK advised he was informed of the shooting at Columbine High School and reported knowing both the shooters Dylan KLEBOLD and Eric HARRIS, KIRK revealed he had graduated with Dylan KLEBOLD's older brother Byron KLEBOLD. Also, KIRK recalled observing HARRIS while both were in school, but was not personal with either KLEBOLD or HARRIS. Moreover, on 27APR99 KIRK stated prior to going on a four day underway period he received a package containing the letter from ANDERSON. KIRK indicated he did not open the package but waited until he returned from his underway period. KIRK reported immediately upon his return he opened the package and read the letter. Appended as Exhibit (I) is KIRK's sworn statement.

3. On 04MAY99, RA examined the contents of the package. The package contained a pillow, candle, and T-shirt which were purchased by ANDERSON from a trip she had taken to Germany. Additionally, the letter was examined and it revealed that ANDERSON would be attending her Prom with Dylan KLEBOLD, As well the letter related Dylan hated dances, and jocks. Appended as Exhibit (2) is the letter addressed to KIRK from ANDERSON.

4. On 04MAY99, contact was made with Mark HOLSTLAW, Special Agent, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Denver, Colorado, concerning the aforementioned. HOLSTLAW requested NCIS assistance relative to the re-interview of KIRK. Moreover, HOLSTLAW requested the local Norfolk FBI Field Office be notified and apprised of the incident.

5. On 05MAY99, RA and Timothy P. HSNKEL, Special Agent, FBI Norfolk Field Office interviewed KIRK concerning the aforementioned. Specifically, KIRK was questioned concerning his knowledge of the relationship ANDERSON had with both KLEBOLD and HARRIS. KIRK stated ANDERSON did not discuss her relationship concerning KLEBOLD and HARRIS. As well, KIRK indicated he was not familiar with the group known as the "Trench Coat Mafia" and was unaware of ANDERSONS' knowledge of same. Moreover, KIRK advised on one occasion he was in ANDERSON's bedroom and noticed a picture of a former Columbine High School student named John WEERS (NFI). KIRK reported that both he and WEERS had attended Columbine High School and graduated in JUN97. KIRK stated he and WEERS were in a class together and recalls WEERS discussing his interest in guns and bombs. Lastly, KIRK provided RA with copies of E-mail messages sent by ANDERSON discussing some of the details of the shooting at Columbine High School on 20APR99. Appended as Exhibit {3) is the Results of Interview with KIRK.
6. This report is being forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further investigative action as deemed appropriate.

For the purpose of identification, I am a white male, 72" tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds. I have blonde hair and blue eyes. My social security number is [redacted] and I was born on 28JUL78 in BOULDER, COLORADO. I am currently assigned to the USS HYMAN G. RICKOVER (SSN 709) and have been in the US NAVY since JUN97. I graduated from COLUMBINE HS,, Littleton, CO., in MAY97.

In DEC95, Robyn Kay Anderson and I started E-mailing one another on the Internet- At the time we didn't know one another and had no idea that we were from the same area and attended COLUMBINE HS- It was during our correspondence via the Internet that we realized we both attended the same High School. I was a junior in high school and she was a freshman at COLUMBINE when we began to talk and e-mail one another. We became friends and would write to one another on a monthly basis. Occasionally, we would talk on the telephone. We continued this relationship after I joined the Navy.

Through the NEWS I was informed of the shooting that took place at COLUMBINE HS., on 20APR99. The names of the shooters Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were familiar to me. I graduated High School with Dylan Klebold's older brother Byron Klebold. I remember seeing Eric Harris in the school, but I did not personally know him. When the shooting occurred I did not know if Robyn was hurt (redacted). I continued to watch the news and finally realized that she was not one of the individuals hurt or killed in the shooting.

On 27APR99, I went on an underway period for approximately four days. Prior to going underway, I received a package via the mail from Robyn Anderson. I opened the package. In the package was a letter and other additional items. I did not read the letter at the time nor did I look at the items. Approximately twenty minutes prior to going underway I was informed via the NEWS that Robyn Anderson was suspected of providing Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris with the weapons used in the shooting. The package I received from Robyn was secured in my personal vehicle which was parked on Pier 23, on Norfolk Naval Station. When I returned from the four day underway period I returned to my vehicle and looked at the letter and contents in the package sent from Robyn Anderson. I immediately informed my command. The Letter contained mostly trips to Germany and Washington and as well her upcoming Prom. The letter also made reference to Dylan Klebold. The letter indicated that Robyn and Dylan would be attending the prom together. Additionally, the letter revealed that Dylan hated dances, jocks, and that he had never had a date. The package also included a pillow, candle, and T-shirt which she had purchased on her trip to Germany.

On 28APR99, I received an E-mail from Robyn Anderson. Specifically, Robyn asked me if I knew about what was going on with the shooting and mostly how I was doing and when I would be home, I didn't return her E-Mail. (redacted)

This statement, consisting of this page and me, other was typed for me by Special Agent Daniel D'ambroslo as we discussed its contents. I have read and understand the above statement. I have been given the opportunity to make any changes or corrections I desire to make and have placed my initials over the changes or corrections. This statement is true and correct.

Specifically, KIRK was questioned concerning his knowledge of the relationship ANDERSON had with both KLEBOLD and HARRIS. KIRK related ANDERSON never discussed her relationship with either one of the shooters but that ANDERSON would be attending her prom with KLEBOLD. Additionally, KIRK was not aware of either KLEBOLDS' or HARRIS' reputation at Columbine High School. As well, KIRK indicated he had never heard the term "Trench Coat Mafia" and ANDERSON never mentioned the name to him. KIRK advised three months ago he returned home to visit family and to see ANDERSON. KIRK stated he went to ANDERSON'S residence. KIRK advised while there he entered ANDERSON'S bedroom and observed a photograph of a former classmate of his named John WEERS (NFI). KIRK reported that both he and WEERS had attended Columbine High School and graduated in JUN97. KIRK recalls WEERS discussing his interest in guns and bombs. Lastly, KIRK provided RA with copies of E-mail messages sent by ANDERSON discussing some of the details of the shooting at Columbine High School on 20APR99. Enclosures (1) through (5) pertain.

KIRK indicated he would be willing to consent for a search of his E-mail and cooperate with investigation. KIRK did not provide any additional pertinent information.

During Dylan’s dress rehearsal on April 17, in the only piece of the tapes made at Dylan’s residence, he worries that his gun is making his black trench coat bulky. As he looks for the backpack he will use during the rampage, Dylan goes to his closet where he finds his prom tuxedo hanging. "Robyn,” Dylan says, addressing his prom date and gun buyer Robyn Anderson, “I didn’t really want to go to prom. But since I’m going to be dying, I thought I might do something cool."

He mentions "Robyn" [Robyn Kay Anderson 11-4-80] & going to prom with her. He says he didn't want to go & that his parents are paying for it

She really matured after the shooting huh.

Look at the difference from her letter above about prom and then the email afterwards, telling him how much she needs him and was so worried about what the press are saying about her. It's like she realised how stupid she was, how fooled she was, and she provided the weapons for the massacre to happen.

She comes off as very clingy

If she weren't so clingy and insecure, she wouldn't have provided the guns for the boys that easily and perhaps make the opportunity of them getting guns less available. Not saying they couldn't find someone else but just stating for her.

Oh to be a fly on the wall for the conversation where Robyn was invited to the gun show. And to see her face when she realized she would be buying the guns.

Why didn't Chris reply back? Was he creeped out by Robyn or was it the fact that she might have unintentionally been involved in aiding guns to Eric and Dylan?

She made it clear in the emails so he knew what was happening and yet he didn't seem to reply.

Maybe he didn't want to seem like he was involved since he was friends with Robyn

I know it doesn't seem important just curious I guess.

Do you think that law enforcement set him up to have that chat conversation with her?

Reading the chats made me feel pretty bad for her. She needed someone to talk to and this guy (who she talked to for sometime) just blew her off

Just putting myself in her shoes; it must have been hard to lose one of her best friends from suicide, after he and a friend killed 13 other people, then to be told not to come back to school, then have everyone abandon her.

I don't know much about her, and maybe she did know more than she lead on. But based off the above, I feel for her. It must have been hard.

Robin said "Dylan is a blast for a friend!" Indeed, he was!

Kirk did ask some leading questions about others being involved. Robyn comes across as being completely self absorbed.

In my opinion it wouldn't have changed his mind.

I agree, it feels like he would have to have been in a completely different mindset in order to go and in order to even enjoy it.

I have gotten the feeling that Eric mostly was friends with girls in his german class, is that true?

Since his diversion ended before then he would have probably been able to go if he wanted to. So I think he just decided not to
