A lot of people who study mass murder believe that this sort of content does encourage copycats because shooters often have role models and many of them are motivated by a desire for infamy. I don't know if the release of the content by itself would add to the problem, though it probably could, but I think it's likely that the story would receive more attention from the press if this was released because it would give them material to cover and they always do, no matter how many times they are informed of the possible negative effects. This effectively gives the shooters the infamy that they were looking for and could always encourage potential shooters to follow their lead. I know that many of us are eager to see content created by mass murderers but I don't think we should lie to ourselves and say that it can't possibly be harmful for the police to release their photos, videos and manifestos. A potential shooter does not process content like this in the same way as the average person. It can encourage identification with the shooter, become a blueprint for their own actions or even an inspiration.

It seems that a moderator on another site was able to do this and confirmed that the account which allegedly belonged to the shooter was posting from the area of the shooting and this would suggest that there is a good chance that his real IP address would have appeared in the logs for this site if he was browsing the forum in the recent past.

If you could do that and these accounts are both confirmed to belong to him, would there be any way to search for similar IP addresses and identify whether he may have had others (assuming that he was not using any program to hide his real location at the time)?

As for the other 2 accounts you asked about. I can confirm, that yes, they both belonged to the same person as they both posted under the same IP addresses and yes, the IP addresses are located in New Mexico.

No, I know who "smiggles" is and it's not this guy from New Mexico. "smiggles" had an account on the original Columbine forum and went by the name "Alex Jacobii" or something along those lines. And he did share an IP address with another user who is his girlfriend. He was banned but she's still an active member and he's from London not the US.

So I can definitely say that no there is no chance that "smiggles" had any connection with these other 2 accounts.

As for William, he was posting from his actual IP address. He was not using a proxy and was most likely posting from home because his internet provider is Comcast which is a cable company that offers internet. The city his IP is located in is Farmington, New Mexico. I will screenshot it and post it. I'm not gonna give out his actual IP address though.

Thanks for all of the information! I don't think anyone will care that you aren't giving out the IP address. This seems like a decent amount of proof that the accounts belonged to him.

Is there any way for you to automatically check for every account posting from those IP addresses or would you need to check each name manually?

And I am now curious again because you mentioned the registration e-mail addresses, which I didn't even think of. I guess that just based on location we can't ever be 100% sure that these people were him (no matter how likely) so you would not feel comfortable sharing those, but if you take a look at the lists of his online accounts, can you confirm whether the registration e-mails are listed anywhere on there, either the actual e-mails or any of those usernames/aliases?

I did check both of his IP addresses and his 2 accounts were the only ones posting from both IP addresses. So no, he did not have a 3rd account registered.

And no neither of his email addresses are on that list. However, when I search his email addresses through Google, one of them does show up in a thread on Kiwi Farms.

So it has been proven 100% that these accounts here on the forum are definitely the school shooter?
