Insane shooters

What shooters would have been declared insane had they survived?

Adam Lanza?

If Jared Lee Loughner wasn't found insane, then nobody would.

I think for a person to be declared insane would mean they wouldn't know what they were doing, or more so not know that what they were doing was wrong. If a person can tell the difference between right and wrong, good or evil they are declared sane.

I would think definitely Lanza, especially with his apparent hallucinations and delusional thinking. I highly doubt there are any other shooters that would get off the hook as easily, except MAYBE Cho.

I just realised I didn't even pick a shooter I knew there was a reason I woke up just now in the middle of night! I don't even know where I stand. In comparison to say... Let's go with E/D, who knew what they were doing was wrong, yet did it anyway, I see where you're coming from. What happened with James Holmes in the end? Didn't he once say that for every person he killed he would somehow inherit one of  their personal positive qualities?

What I meant by "insane intruder" is an insane man breaking into someone's home, therefor they are an intruder that is insane.

Initially he was found to be unfit for trial and was medicated until he was mentally well enough to be tried.

I do think Adam was very disturbed and had Psychosis but i do not think he was disturbed enough to be Insane. Insane people or extremely severe sufferers of Psychosis and Schizophrenia normally have random extreme psychotic episodes which causes them to swiftly and impulsively plan and commit an attack or go into a Psychotic rage and injure/kill as many as they can in the surrounding area. Insane killers are normally extremely dangerous and will have incredible strength, speed and determination whilst in there rages and on their rampages.

Possibly although I doubt it.

Robert Sartin was declared insane after he committed the Monkseaton shootings.

Any premeditation makes it very unlikely for a Shooter to be declared insane?

I think Randy could pass as being insane.

You mean court-wise, or psychology wise? Its not the same thing.

Psychology wise, most shooters suffered from some mental disorder, usually depression + some additional personality diosorder or psychotic disorder.

Legal wise? I think Randy Stair would probably be declared sane by court-standards. Cho or Lanza not so much

He cut his own genitals and began attacking people, killing four people and injuring seven others with a pisau belati, a large knife, two seriously in Surabaya, Indonesia on December 25, 1955. When he was arrested he told police he was possessed by the spirit of Tunggul Wulung, whereupon he was brought to hospital. I don't know if this guy died after the rampage, or survived, but if he survived, then he was surely found to be insane.

Nasim Najafi Aghdam Was pretty insane

Even though Charles Whitman was aware of the fact that it was wrong what he was doing, he was mentally ill due to his brain disease. He would probably have been declared insane.

Yea, I agree with this. Randy is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that was probably insane.

I still think it would be unlikely that Randy would be declared insane had he not become an hero.

What about James Huberty? He tried to get help on a mental help hotline, but failed.

- Jumped from one object to another to avoid touching the floor to protect from monsters
- Covered his body with towels after showers to protect against monsters
- Drank white correctional fluid and wore a Twister mat as a cape at school
- Thought a man lived under his house with a chainsaw, so he put metal objects under his bed to stop him from cutting his legs off

He also heard voices and had distorted thought processes and poor understanding of social interaction. He may also have thought he was an alien.

Kip Kinkel thought that Disney had implanted a chip in his brain, and US gun control would leave the US defenseless against a Chinese invasion.

I don't think Adam Lanza would have been declared insane had he survived the shooting.
