they're saying the shooter "barricaded himself" in the store. does this mean the police backed him into it and he tried to keep them out? or was it a randy stair situation and he did it to trap the victims in the store?

It's interesting how he commit suicide after his attack. Most far-right racist shooters want to stay alive as much as possible so they can be in the public eye for a long time to inspire more hate crimes by similar people. I feel like this guy wanted to be the first hate crime school shooter at the university he went to before the attack, a man with both the mental illness of a school shooter and the hate of an extremist christchurch style shooter. Thankfully his plan didn't go far because we would have had a Virginia Tech with many black dead bodies.
