The term "high powered" really grinds my gears. The .223 Remington cartridge is small compared to the rounds used in hunting rifles.

Nearing 24 hours at large, can't say that was on my bingo card. I want to believe he's already dead and they haven't found him yet, but how far could he have gotten after abandoning his vehicle? This whole situation is wild.

I don't think he is dead, yet. He is probably holed up in some place in the woods right now. I imagine leaving the state border would be difficult.

Unless he had a political motive behind the shooting I bet he is dead.  Probably just went to some secluded area and blew his brains out, otherwise I think he would've been found by now.  If he did the shooting for genuine political reasons and not mental illness, he might be alive so he can stand trial, like Anders Breivik and Brenton Tarrant.

I heard a mention of rantings and banking/personal information, but I'm not sure that was part of the same note. Nothing else has been released except the fact it's a suicide note.

News center maine is showing a truck with a ram. The woman on nbc hurt my brain with that boat escape question. Agenda free tv has live video now, but since reporters have been ordered to turn off camera lights there isn't a whole lot to see.

This is definitely quite an interesting case, even if the death toll is not as high as it potentially could’ve been/(could be). The fact that it’s in a rural area, makes it more effective in terrorizing the families of the victims, which isn’t always seen as much. Deadly shootings are often quick, but the region and inability to close the case after some time, makes it, by all that I know, notably unique. At least in the extent of that happening.

The gun control debate resurfaces every mass shooting. It's always the same argument of wether it's the guns or mental health. I suppose it depends if he starts to shoot again. If the manhunt goes on like it is right now, with Card gone without a trace and no further acts of violence, then the lockdown would be lifted by like next week probably. Oh, not to mention the suicide note they found. So in all likelihood Robert Card is probably all ready dead and is laying deceased in a ditch with his brains blown out, rotting away.
