YES! I used to listen to this on repeat. Definitely a Dylan song.
THIS, and it irritates me that I've made that connection, I bought the Pulp Fiction Soundtrack and used to listen to it all the time before I had seen the 'Morning Ride' video of Dylan but now if i ever listen to it, it does always remind me of that video and the little 'car dance' now every time I hear it.

This surprised me but Euphoria by Loreen reminds me of Dylan....
"We are here, we’re all alone in our own Universe, We are free, where everything’s allowed and love comes first, Forever and ever together, we sail into infinity, We’re higher and higher and higher, we’re reaching for divinity."

There was a rap song about Columbine called Anatomy of a School Shooter and it focuses mainly on Eric. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Michale Graves, "Nobody thinks about me", for obvy reason.
LOL! Hey, I think I remember who drew this! It was a couple of years ago, some girl on the board (that one psycho feminist girl who'd insult and pick fights with people non-stop over nearly ANYTHING) drove him/her away after attacking them for being a fanboy/fangirl for making that.

This song called The Kinslayer by Nightwish. From 2:30 it has lyrics about what Eric and Dylan said to their victims, quotes from them, 15 candles represents the 15 deaths, etc. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Wolf Wind by Kapo!/Death In June remind me of Columbine: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Especially the lyrics:
Wayward we know the wanderer's journey The single willed life earns its own exile When gladness has gone Gathering sorrow When sadness has gone Gathering strength We bind the dark mood fast in our vigil state No earthly glory but a cold heart's hermit cave No wisdom without our cruel share of winters No victory without our blood sea of rage Like scavengers we feast Where wolf wind hangman swings Into reeling life we forge Into holiness we burn Casting astray immemorial silence The wavering will chases blood-given gain We found our fate in embers of vision We find our faith in ashes of truth

Golden Boy by Natalie Merchant reminds me of both Eric and Dylan. This line especially:
"Meteor rise from obscurity All it took was a killing spree And the whole world was lying at your feet Golden boy"

Do you ever think about what a lovely place the world would be without all the people that make life so unpleasant?
All the small, petty people All the ugly, annoying people It's hard not to think about it
I like to think about what could be done to these people Something cruel Something mean Something just But the meaner the better Goodness knows they deserve it
Have you ever dreamed of killing all the stupid people? Not just the unintelligent people but the sort that don't know anything about anything but seem to have opinions about everything They're only too ready to offer their advice about how to run your life And yet look at how they run their own lives For the most part they've accomplished nothing They've contributed nothing Their lives are miserable But they talk, talk, talk At the very least their tongues should be cut out At the very least
Do you ever wanna kill all the people who tell lies? Some certainly deserve it Not necessarily the big liars or even those who teach lies as truth I'm talking about people who say one thing and do another or who tell you they sent something express mail when you know they haven't
Did you ever want to kill all the slow people in the world? The people who are in front of you when they should be behind you A crime that the swift should be help back by the slow And it's criminal that nothing is going to rectify it
And what about all the really ugly people? Add them to the list as well Some people try not to think about life's ugliness I've thought about it I've thought about it quite a lot Something should be done to these people Something to make them suffer the way they've made us suffer
I say, bring back the circus maximus for starters Unless these weeds are dealt with they'll poison everything They are poisoning everything We need a gardener A brutal gardener A thorough, thoughtful gardener An iron gardener
Whatever happened to Vlad the Impaler? Where's Genghis Kahn when you need him? Or Roi d'Ys? Ayatollah Khomeini Adolf Hitler Benito Mussolini Nero Diocletian Kitchener Come back!

Green Day Having A Blast
I'm taking all you down with me Explosives duct taped to my spine Nothings gonna change my mind
I won't listen to anyone's last words There's nothing left for you to say Soon you'll be dead anyway
No one here is getting out alive This time I've really lost my mind and I don't care So close your eyes And kiss yourself goodbye And think about the times you spent and what they've meant To me it's nothing...
I'm losing all my happiness The happiness you pinned on me Loneliness still comforts me
My anger dwells inside of me I'm taking it all out on you And the shit you put me through
No one here is getting out alive This time I've really lost my mind and I don't care So close your eyes And kiss yourself goodbye And think about the times you spent and what they've meant To me its nothing...
Do you ever think back to another time? Does it bring you so down that you thought you lost your mind? Do you ever want to lead a long trail of destruction and mow down any bullshit that confronts you? Do you ever build up all the small things in your head? To make one problem that adds up to nothing To me it's nothing...

Those Green Day lyrics are appropriate. Speaking of Rammstein, I think Eric would have loved the song Feuer Frei! if he'd still been alive. For those that don't know, the song name roughly translates as "Open Fire!".
Lyrics (English translation):
Whoever knows pain is dangerous from the fire that burns the soul bang bang
the burned child is dangerous with fire that separates from the life a hot cry bang bang OPEN FIRE!
Your happiness is not my happiness it is my misery
Bang bang OPEN FIRE!

I often wonder how both E&D would have felt about todays Rammstein, KMFDM, NIN and music and pop culture in general. I have a decent idea

Personally, I thought KMFDM's Xtort was their best album and they never came close to beating it. I think Eric would have been disappointed with Adios. Then again, who am I to say, I like Front Line Assembly much better than KMFDM. As for Rammstein, I really think it's a pity that E/D didn't get to hear the album Mutter. I think they would have liked that one.
Electronic music was cool in the 90s when computer technology was new. I think E/D would have outgrown a lot of the music they liked when computers stopped being so new and exciting.
What do you think? What bands would E/D be listening to now?

Alice Cooper's song Wicked Young Man was written about Columbine, specifically about Eric.
I think out of all of the songs that have been written about Columbine, this is one of the few portrayals of Eric that Eric himself would have approved of.
Lyrics are: I am a vicious young man. Yeah, I am a wicked young man. It's not the games that I play, the movies I see, the music I dig, I'm just a wicked young man.
I like to run my body on heavy heavy fuel, I can punch through a wall, I can kick like a mule. I got a pocketful of bullets and a blueprint of the school, I'm the devil's little soldier, I'm the devil's little tool.
I never ever sleep I just lay in my bed, Dreaming of the day when everyone is dead.
EDIT: I just realized that someone already mentioned this song. Either way, I still think Eric would have approved of this portrayal of himself as born pure evil rather than a victim.

I have moments of having a terribly sick sense of humour, so the Prince song "1999" totally makes me think of Columbine. The lyrics actually fit too.
But when I woke up this mornin' Could of sworn it was judgment day
The sky was all purple There were people runnin' everywhere Tryin' to run from the destruction You know I didn't even care
But life is just a party And parties weren't meant to last
War is all around us My mind says prepare to fight So if I gotta die I'm gonna listen to my body tonight
Everybody's got a bomb We could all die here today, uhh We could all die here today (1999)
Just the lyrics there that I think fit. The song was written about the nuclear arms race if I'm not mistaken, but the whole "judgement day" bit is so very E&D - and written a good 17 years before Columbine happened.
ETA: StinkyOldGrapes - agree with you there, Eric would have loved that portrayal of himself. Or he would have hated it, because it's slightly tongue-in-cheek and he would have seen it as a slight against him. You never know with that kid

Queens of the Stoneage? The Deftones? Maybe Dylan would have liked The Foofighters? But I don't think they would have outgrown their music. The bands they liked are still performing and still a lot of people buy their albums or pay good money to see them.

This Smashing Pumpkins' song always reminds me of Dylan's diary.
I don't know why but this song always reminds me of their sense of betrayal by the school.
Show me how to lie, you’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one is an art that’s hard to teach Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you step back in the line a mob jumps to their feet
Now dance, fucker, dance, man, he never had a chance And no one even knew, it was really only you

LOL. Eric's desire to bring forth the apocalypse fits well with the nuclear annihilation theme. When I first played Eric's Doom levels, I almost expected him to introduce a new weapon -the highly modified atom bomb. At the end of the level, your reward for killing all the demons is you get to blow yourself and the whole universe up.
On topic, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Metallica's Ronnie!
The streets are red, red I'm afraid, There's no confetti, no parade. Nothing happens in this boring place, But oh my god, how that all did change. Now they all pray: Blood stains wash away.

In bloom by Nirvana, in my twisted mind it's fitting for eric and KMFDM. He's the one Who likes all our pretty songs and he likes to shoot his gun but he don't know what it means Eric obviously liked the KMFDM songs, and liked shooting his gun even more, but he didn't understand the lyrics. I mean, how can one misinterpret "shit for brains" in son of a gun.

This is probably going to sound really random and strange, but some fragments (especially the last line) of 'Small Town Moon' by Regina Spektor really do remind me of both boys pre-massacre.
'Cause we're gonna get real old real soon Today we're younger than we're ever gonna be
Stop! Stop, what's the hurry? Come on baby, don't you worry worry Everybody not so nice nice Everybody not so nice nice
Thought you ought to know by now I thought you ought to know by now Everybody not so nice nice Everybody not so nice nice
I must have left a thousand times but there's a small town in my mind How can I leave without hurting every one that made me?

People twist the meanings of songs to fit their own needs all the time. Eric probably imagined the "shit for brains" part applied to the people he was killing. I think Eric was aware that KMFDM wouldn't approve of his massacre plan and that their music wasn't advocating real life violence. Or he may have even imagined that KMFDM were a repressed version of himself -the band really did advocate violence, but were just pretending not to. Or he may have just not cared. Eric thought he was superior to everyone, so perhaps he thought it was acceptable to use KMFDM's music in any way he saw fit because that's how it should have been in the first place.

Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd reminds me of Dylan.
"Boy, don't you worry. You'll find yourself. Follow you heart, and nothing else. You can do this, if you try. All that I want for you my son, is to be satisfied."
